If they changed some of the standards by 50mm for example, most of these “non compliances” would not be picked up and that scaffold would STILL never fall down… it’s the most challenging thing about scaffolding inspections or teaching scaffold inspections. Appreciate the hidden lesson.

I'm about to build a house for myself. When I got the blueprints from the architect I looked at them and they seemed nice. After that I started to plan the scaffolding. The house has a mansard roof (french or curbed roof, I'm not sure what construction workers call it in UK or USA as I come from Sweden), so the scaffolding becomes a little more tricky than I'm used to. I'm a general construction worker, not a professional scaffolder. For the pros this should be easy. For me, fun and interesting.

I'm wondering if I can erratic a scaffolding for myself (just for domestic use) or do I need to have the same formal qualifications as professional scaffolders?

Anybody can make a scaffold as long as it’s fully decked out leveled and braces installed correctly and a few other details. Just depends on how high you’re gonna go or if the scaffold is gonna be used to stage heavy materials like bricks and whatnot
@2ntnun5 жыл бұрын
There wasnt any transoms on it. He pointed at the puttys which the timbers sit on. You dont hang transoms off your ledgers, they meant to join the standards. The putlogs are to support the timbers.
@haakscaffolding16385 жыл бұрын
Nate Wells putlogs ?? I’m sure they go in the wall pal that’s a type of scaffold not an intermediate transom lol

Fittings should done up at how many NM to make a class A 6.1kn That isn't taught and should be. Because depending on different torques from different scaffs that slip resistance would be varied and not spot on.

I was able to last for 2 weeks unloading 90 kg windows with a parner from a lorry and then getting them up the lever onto a 5-storey building. Then we we were putting the windows on a hand made scateboard and driving it through scacfold flooring. The scaffolders build the flooring out of wooden planks, not metal with teethed holes. The hardest part was carrying the windows by hands into the rooms, not driving them on a scaffold flooring. The pay was shit through the agency.

They are transoms,a putlog is one end of tube flattened so it sits in brickwork,hence the name putlog scaffold! Yes it acts the same as a transom so boards sit on them,but a putlog scaffold has only outer standards, you dig?
