These girls are thick. I used a consumer grade Husky for 7 years that was 24 hp and 54” deck. I moved up to a Skag Tiger-Cat II with a 52” deck and the same hp. On paper, that’s a slightly smaller mower. I noticed immediately that the trailer felt different and my Jeep was squatting noticeably more with the Skag than with the Husky. I looked it up and noticed that the Skag was 100 lbs shy of weighing TWICE what the Husky did!

The Turf Tiger II is a thick girl. Drive shaft operated and low center of gravity means she is large and in charge.

In my opinion Scag builds the best mowers on the market I like the good engineering and the thickness if the steel they last don’t crack and wear out quickly made in America I don’t mind paying extra for quality

Watched a video on a Scag Patriot 75 hours old blades vs a Hustler 12 hrs with new blades Cutting a over grown field. Scag was almost perfect on cut quality vs the Hustler that left a horrible cut quality I bought a Patriot for my yard after I fired 3 landscapers My cuts are perfect and their cuts were bad. They had eXmarks and other stuff

Great video! Looking at picking up a 61 vride 2 in the spring time with the kohler efi. Any chance you guys can make a video going over the updates on the vride?

No feature updates were made on the v ride 2 this year. There are two new engine options this year on the 61 - the 37 vanguard efi and a new Kawasaki 38hp efi. You can read more here: www.scag.com/product/stand-on-mowers/v-ride-ii/

Moving everything back moves the center gravity back and makes the front light. That doesn't seem like a benefit to me. My turf tiger has weights on the front end to keep it down. Seems like way should be being moved forward to keep the front tires down. Moving the weight back improves traction of the drive tires but it also reduces the incline the machine can climb before the front tire come out the ground.
@failranch95425 ай бұрын
You’re right about reduced climbing ability due to the front coming up. However, I believe that in the aggregate - for most yards - it’s a better design with the seat and the overall CG moved towards the rear. The reason I say this is that it tremendously improves side hilling performance. My old ZT (Husky) with a comically forward CG would straight up climb a wall. However, it was totally useless cutting perpendicular to a slope. On my Tiger-Cat II I have to be more careful going straight up our bank as the front will lift if I make too jerky of a movement on the sticks, but the side hill performance is incredible. It matches my old Husky but the Husky had tire chains (added because it was helpless otherwise). That’s another story- yes you can run tire chains on a ZT without tearing up your grass.

@@failranch9542 I can see your point. I just never mowed sideways on hills step enough to cause the front to slide because cg is forward. Putting cg between rear tires may allow better side hill control. This is my first 0 turn. I've always used high center of gravity tractors. Straight up and down hills and only down once the front starts getting light climbing. The fix to climb stepper hill, add more forward weight. Just bought a caterpillar powered turf tiger with 116 hours on it. It's a mowing machine. I'll try it on the side of a hill soon enough.

When will the next updates/improvements be made? Since you said Scag makes changes on a rolling scale I was curious if 2022 would be a major update for the company?
@KPMExceptional3 жыл бұрын
Scag is constantly making improvements to their products over time. They are considered rolling changes. That is why there are no real model years for Scag products. The same mower from the same year may differ in certain ways, depending on the rolling changes. Specifically for 2022, the time to watch for new products (and major updates) would be fall 2021. Specifically October, which is when the GIE expo is usually held in Louisville Kentucky. Information will be released at that time. Thanks for your question!!

no shocks or suspension?
@KPMExceptional3 жыл бұрын
The Turf Tiger 2 is one of the most comfortable mowers there is. The reasons include a torsion-spring suspension seat mounted on a 4-iso-mount system. There is just no mower out there like the Turf Tiger 2 - comfort, power, cut quality, productivity, you name it. Thanks for your question!

@KPMExceptional3 жыл бұрын
@@shanepipkin4041 if suspension is your focus, then Scag Cheetah 2 offers one of the best in the industry. It is way simpler than the other mower brand you mentioned. When other systems age (like the one you mentioned) the suspension parts tend to fail and cause a choppy, rough ride. the Scag Cheetah 2 Operator Suspension System isolates the operator from the effects of rough terrain, providing unmatched comfort without sacrificing quality-of-cut. A coil-over shock provides effective suspension action right where it’s needed, and only where it’s needed. The seat’s 4-point, rubber iso-mounting provides even more shock absorption, maximizing your comfort, hour after hour. All we can say is to try them out at your local Scag dealer. Both mowers are excellent. People simply prefer one or the other. If you have any other specific questions we're happy to help!

Scag doesn't have "model years" really. Machines are made on a rolling basis, shipped to distributors, then shipped to dealers. This unit above is one from our warehouse, received sometime in Fall of 2020. At this point, all the changes listed above should be made on the stock that is currently at your Scag dealer. Thanks for the question!
