I knew you'd like that! Don't worry, I'm not giving up on my boy. He's pretty rough (ruff?) these days though, and I can tell we don't have a lot of time. He's on a lot of pain meds due to arthritis and joint deterioration, often so bad that he can't walk. But he still enjoys eating and pooping. Heck, what else is there?

Scott according to my year 2023 Hydroplane & Raceboat Museum wall calendar on Friday, June 2nd is the ‘Spring Testing in Tri Cities’. Do you ever attend any of the H1 Unlimited Hydroplane testing events or races?

Every year! We race on Friday and Saturday morning, then hang out with the big boats afterward. You should come!

@@M5PerfHydros I would have if it wasn’t for the high heat in the Tri Cities area and the lack of shade on the shore of the Columbia River. Meaning I can’t take the heat. This past summer I went to Lake Washington to watch the H1 Unlimited Hydroplane races for two days. The high was around 90 F on both days. Thank goodness there is shade under the trees that line the shores of Lake Washington.

Not too many guys would admit that they can't take the heat, so I commend you for it! I'm a desert dweller who doesn't start to feel normal until about 105°

Question, could you use two pieces of tape running piarial with sponson or one going full width to help hold inline ? Flip it back put epoxy in place then flip back over then clamp?

Sure why not? Don't know if it would really help much, but in some tricky to hold situations it could be the bomb

Could you tell me the purpose of the step on the inboard side of the sponson??

The step beside the recovery pad is there to reduce the width of the recovery and act as a second "catch" if the nose dives deep. The step beside the primary ride pad serves the same purpose, and also releases air to reduce lift

Scott would you do the sponsons this way angled on a 34"p black pearl boat on F.E. or jut the big hydros ? About to build one to run with Heart of Texas Model Boat Club, they build some FAST FE. boats

I haven't built one of those, but as a general observation I think we've all been using too much angle of attack for a long time. Back when engines had a lot less power and prop designs were terrible a lot of angle was needed to get the boat out of the water. These days, especially with electrics, it just isn't needed.

Excuse my ignorance, have been out of the scale boat scene for some time. Are their plans easily obtainable for these boats? Had a miss circus circus 20 years ago.

Sadly, not so much. Plans for almost every unlimited hydroplane ever built used to be available from Newton Marine, but their website has been down for months. Best option right now is to get a framing kit from ML Boatworks. The kits are awesome, and would be a great way to get back in it! Check it out here mlboatworksrc.com/
