Scaler 2.9 New Features | Passages, Live Suggest Mode, Arps and Content

In this video Davide Carbone demonstrates the main new features introduced in Scaler 2.9. 'Passages' are a new way of interpreting chords as movements and melodic passages. Davide shows how using passages can turn any chords into beautifully played performances made by Scaler's in-house musicians. Davide also demonstrates the new 'Live Suggest Mode' which is a new way of finding chords that are compatible with your progression on the fly. Plus there's a look at the new Arpeggios, Bass Performances, Left Handed Guitar Display in the Fretboard view and lots of Chord Sets.

Pretty Cool, I would love to see key switching on Performances and Arpeggios too. Currently I've been Midi capturing the output while clicking through them in real time. I found the "passages" feature in the Scaler 2.9 update to be quite impressive. It reminded me of UJAM's virtual piano, where performances gradually progress from soft to intense. Having this feature in Scaler is truly beneficial. Moreover, I am hopeful that this feature can be expanded to include various passages for piano, strings, brass, and other instruments. Loving Passages as the provide fantastic building blocks, and they also serve as perfect seed notes to feed back into some of Scaler's perform modes or midi transformation tools. Also really appreciate you guys keeping non-contiguous chord selection (ctrl-click) and Preview Selected Chords active during Live Suggest mode. It is great for trying variations on multiple chords that are off the screen w/out the chords swapping out. Also, was wondering if you are doing any automation of Scaler EQ? I hope v3 adds its own piano roll to the scaler. I would also like Ghost Note to be activated for each inserted scaler. You can view your MIDI arrangement easily and objectively. I want it to be a tool to help you decide.

I have a large library of MIDI files and now I don't know if I will need it or not. As far as I understand, you can create both simple and very complex chords and even melodies in Scalar. For switching passages, you can assign certain keys on a midi controller keyboard to play those? thats why they are green correct? if so, would you mind sending a link to a video on how to assign that.

Scaler 2 has to be one of the most powerful music plugins of all time, in one of the most confusing UIs I have ever seen. With Scaler 3 will there be another layout philosophy considered? I’d be curious if this is just me… Regardless I’m going to invest the time in learning it, but intuitive it is not for me.

You can do that in EDIT page. Rubber band the chords you want to change and any changes (Octaves, Semitone, inversions) apply to all the chords you have selected. Hope that helps.

Hi. A query regarding "Bind incoming midi notes to chord triggers". Would it be possible to bind the chord to keys of the scale? Currently for example if I choose 'E' scale. Then to play the 1st E major chord I have to hit 'C'. Input keys are fixed no matter what the scales are. A bit annoying. Could you please make the binding scale aware? Thanks.
