Best Scaler 2 tutorial I've seen so far. I learned so much from this that I hadn't spotted in the app, despite being one of the beta testers! By the way, when you're syncing multiple instances of Scaler 2, you need to select one or more of the blacked out check boxes before clicking Sync. That seems to work fine for me

Is there a way to also view all the chords in a scale in a grid together (like the pad grid) instead of separated by the tabs? ( current tabs being the triad, 7ths, 9ths, 11ths etc) It would be much easier to see them all together on the same page in a grid laid out like the pad mode. They could be separated vertically by headers of the kind (triad, 7ths etc), rather than having to click through tabs continuously to find all the chords you like
@MobileMusicPro
@MobileMusicPro 6 ай бұрын
Completely agree with you but in this app they are separated by tabs. There are of course many other competitive chord apps such as Progressions by 4pockets that you may find more useful. apps.apple.com/us/app/progressions/id1634378516

@@MobileMusicPro in the video you asked if we saw any strange things with the app. I did notice pretty quickly that with the app open in standalone, on the main page, I can select a key then go to the “B” section. In this section I click the alternate tab and then click the play button in that section. It will begin playing through the alternate patterns but if you click one of the tabs to move to another grouping, say the 5 or 6 minor it just stops playback. Seems like everywhere else in the app things transition seamlessly. But in the main B section, it dies. You have to keep clicking the play icon to start it back up. It is easy to reproduce as it fails every time.

Is scaler your favorite chord generating app? It's pretty confusing for me to use. I discovered you can just tap the chords in to play your own rhythm. Trying to understand how to manipulate the rhythm in scaler is what makes it too hard for me to get the best out of it.

Great demo, you gave me lots of new ideas. I wonder if I play my wind synth through Scaler2 will it pass through all the controller data?
@MobileMusicPro

That's a good question, scaler does accept pretty much all types of MIDI so I'd have to assume yes but I don't have a device to properly test it.
@itsaboutchina732
@itsaboutchina732 2 жыл бұрын
@@MobileMusicPro did the test today with my windsynth triggering the binded scale and CC#2 Breath and CC#11 Expression did not pass through :-(. I could work around this by recording the windsynth on a separate track that plays into a midi track with Scaler mfx on it and record both. Then copy the CC data from the windsynth “raw” track and paste it onto the recorded Scaler track. I also discovered that when you mute the chords in Scaler and you use a windsynth to play melodic lines on top it garbles the data going into your synth. I was using a SWAM trumpet, yet just using the Cubasis keyboard or Thumbjam (still one of my favorite controllers) it plays and transposes fine as the chords are being played.

Just watching this video and on the strumming can it some how change the strumming so it is not so u-natural like when playing a real guitar and strumming I almost never play the same pattern that straight I would add in extra strums like passing strums as I got from one chord to another. Or strum 1 Normal but strum 2 is a slite different version of the strum then back to strum 1 all with in the same bars. With out this it dose not sound real for the strumming. Like a (strum down strum up) - (strum down strum up strum down strum up) - (strum down strum up) - (strum down strum up mute strum down strum up mute). Pattern Can you edit the strum pattern to do this kind of thing? You can do this is many Guitar plugins to get the strumming the way to want.
@MobileMusicPro

There are many different strumming patterns to choose from and you can switch them up from beat to beat and bar to bar with different patterns and speeds. There's also another app you may enjoy that does similar things called midi strummer by 4pockets.

Scaler 2 has a lot of SHITTY built in sounds that generate a TON of noise (especially on an ipad) and audio cracks. When you hold any note with these sounds, there is a ton of noise and weird compression sounds. It's awful and is a SHAME that a sound oriented plugin / software can't even handle the basic of all basics.
@MobileMusicPro
@MobileMusicPro Жыл бұрын
I certainly could not detect any issues with the built in sounds but most people use the app for the MIDI anyways. This software goes wayyyy beyond the basics for MIDI.

@@MobileMusicPro well for Midi I agree, but 1. When in DAW, I can connect / route to other stuff and hear the chords on an instrument of my choice. The daw version sounds ok by the way. 2. When using it on an ipad, I would not agree. I use it on ipad to compose and generate ideas.. so I rely heavily on it’s built in sounds and it makes a hell of a problem to be able to hear a chord clearly when it sounds terrible. The ipad is for mobility when composing.
