The best games go so unnoticed. Old games like this were so creative and unique, unlike the recycled ideas we have today

It had its fair share of flaws. The parts of the environment you could walk and jump around on were very unnatural looking, the forced "silliness" of the characters clashed with the brutal, primordial feel of the world and its many deadly creatures, a number of the challenges (like the portal ones in Medoozum or racing in Desollem) kind of made the world feel flimsy and fake, and the game itself was just really short. Still, it certainly had some of the best environment and creature art ever seen in a game. The worlds felt alive, the soundtrack meshed perfectly with the wild, dangerous aesthetic, and the enemies and animals you encounter show a sort of unfettered creativity that made this game feel simultaneously alien, natural, and real. The difference is, the things this game did wrong were done right in countless other games. But the things this game did right were rarely, if ever, found in other games. It brought something genuinely original to the table, and it's a tragedy that it wasn't recognized for its odd beauty.

@Prof. Genki It's strange, they would've fared so much better just leaning fully into the theme of being a small fish in a big pond, not dumbing down the subtle horror (as well as the not-so-subtle horror; I nearly pissed myself the first time I died to a Trapper...) for the sake of kid-friendliness and instead choosing to immerse its players fully in this wild and dangerous universe. Might've earned it a Teen rating, which they maybe were trying to avoid, idk. Would've earned them a lot more respect for sure.

@Prof. Genki See now I didn't find the Rattlecrab hard at all. I learned how to spam the fire button on the controller since there's no limit to maximum rate of fire when doing that. None of the bosses were particularly challenging to me. What I personally found really difficult were the stealth segments with the Trappers. I was terrible at timing out their movements and got caught pretty frequently, as well as just timing out in the middle of the muddy terrain. Other than that and the griffins with their ability to take two health points from you with one shot, and having to immediately jump into first person and shoot them before they shoot you, I found the rest of the game rather easy.
