You are so right. Start slow to the point it gets ridiculous and build it up from there. Humbleness will help you a lot.

Slow practice where the problem is carefully isolated yet practiced in minimal context is the most effective for me. My friend said, "It's easier to play *that* faster." I'd say it is certainly easier to ignore the errors caused by not learning "it" slowly.

Of course practice scales - and without vibrato to hear clear intonation. If you know all scales ( and with variations) , you know all pieces.

Vengerov, Rodney Friend, etc, say NO to practising scales without vibrato. They're right.

@@2ears1mouth786 I don´t think so! I want to listen if I can play 100% in tune first. My students need that.
