Hey welcome back! I didn't even know they made folding scalpels...I do now! :)
@MeZillch4 жыл бұрын
To the best of my knowledge they DIDN'T make folding scalpels up until about a year ago. There have been some retracting blade ones though.

I agree. Carrying a perpetually razor sharp knife on you every day is awesome. The inexpensive blade can be swapped around if it dulls, or replaced entirely for just pennies.

In my town of Mineola, NY there is a company called Medipoint and they sell a product called Splinter Out. It’s essentially a lancet first your skin, to puncture in and dig out a splinter or to let the fluid out of s boil. They come in a snap closed little plastic case that has 5 or 10 of them. I think you’ll like them if you like scalpels. And they are sealed inside a sleeve that keeps them clean and are extremely flat.

Thanks. I looked it up. Looks good for cutting out a splinter.

I bought some of those. The same company (medipoint) also sells blood lancets. They are the exact same thing except they don't come in the plastic case and you get 200 for $10 instead of 20 for $5. Seriously. I fell for it, too.

Wish these would take the more commonly used Xacto blades instead of scalpel blades. Maybe there's a folding version of Xacto knives out there somewhere? I bought some cheap Xacto knife clones [with the standard removable caps] and cut down the handles to put in my EDC pack and add to gift EDC packs I made.

I agree with the choice. But one point you must also take into account is the type of blade. #11 are a lot easier to find on Amazon Canada compare to #24.
@MeZillch3 жыл бұрын
Although little skinny ones that take No. 11 can't take the larger No. 24, I'm pretty sure the one that takes the big No. 24 can accommodate nearly any smaller blade too, including No. 11. For my purposes No. 11 is actually a very good size since I am working with tiny objects. Thanks for the tip about availability.

Strange for this to get age-restricted
@MeZillch3 жыл бұрын
Children shouldn't play with scalpels and I decided I didn't want to post a video that entices them to either, so I age restricted it.

Scaple in holder also very useful if and when you have to remove your own Appendix, as a Russian doctor had to while on winter duty in Antartica. Check it out in Wikipedia.

These look like great keychain knife options. However I do recommend that you try the Screwpop "Ron's Utility Knife 3.0". It uses standard utility blades but works best with Lenox utility blades that have 4 notches at the back of the blade and they're great for adjusting the blade length you need.
