phuk awfplz Only problem with that buddy. eBay is very good with catching people who scam. If you get caught you don't get contacted by eBay, the police turn up at your door and will charge you for whatever you've done. I have a friend who did a lot of eBay scamming last year, he ended up getting charged for $20,000 but could not pay the fine. He is now on his last month of his 6 month prison sentence.

Of course, I always get tracking numbers. I now refuse to sell to over seas buyers. No matter how much a person begs, I only accept PayPal, for payments. Results vary I guess. I've had a lot of other problems outside of returns or the money end of it, I should have said. Go to ebay and look at my feedback left, specifically the feedbacks where I write that the buyer is a total piece of shit. My problems have been with other sellers in my niche, buying my items then attacking my account to send my listings to the end of the search results. Of course ebay finally started believing me after 5 years... Yeah it's rough on there and most buyers are liars.

Your video (and others like it) is the reason I never buy on eBay from private sellers. The few scammers that do what they did to you and sellers who misrepresent the items they're selling is the reason I don't trust eBay. There was a court case where an eBay seller was selling two phones for something like $467. They included a picture of the phones in the ad. Well, the buyer paid $467 and all they got was the picture of the phones. Buyer got their $467 back plus another $4533 in punitive damages. Apparently, Ebay was no help. It's probably a good idea to record the serial number of the items you're selling. If the returned item doesn't have the same serial number, you know they kept your good item returned their broken item for a refund. That even happens in brick and mortar stores.

As a Chinese, I feel sorry for your loss. I just want to point out that the tape belongs to China Post, and even people who live in China always lost things when using this carrier. Also it is sad to see that a lot of eBay sellers warning everyone else to avoid selling things to China. It is becoming better as our express delivery industry has now become the best worldwide. The safety of item has some degree of protection. Another point I want to mention is that shopping online is extremely common in China these days. And Taobao protects both buyers and sellers by providing Zhifubao, a paying system just like paypal, but owned and controlled by Taobao (all of them belong to Alibaba) so it is easy to manage and mediate disputes. (and it works good in China. ) EBay definitely should learn something from Taobao, especially in seller protection. It is true that public trust is lost in many place in China. But the new generation is growing, with more ethic and responsibility. We are the victims of our older generations, but I hope our children won’ t suffer because of us.

When I contacted Walmart they said it was a "outside store sale" I got it on the Walmart site although it came from Dubai, I believe from the papers. I couldn't get my money or a new hoverboard. Been Ebaying since '00', one thing that I leaned the hard ways is to steer clear of seller/buyers from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. If I do any buying or selling within Asia, Japan is the only country that I trust. Frankly, I try to stick within the borders of the US and Canada. Can't stress this enough, study the buyer/sellers profile and history carefully, this should be obvious. Anyone with a Negative in the last 6 months and no communication between the two parties, I'll go elsewhere. Less than a 98 on the score, not happening. Fortunately many of items that I buy and occasionally sell, are not heavily sought after unlike hi tech items.
@cameraman6558 жыл бұрын
Ditto, I do not sell or buy from outside the US/Canada, I had to learn the hard way a few years back, not worth the hassle. I also agree with your other recommendations, frankly if they have less that a 99% positive rating, fewer that 10 transactions, I move on or deny their bids. Should someone insist on making a bid from outside the US despite all of my warnings, I will e-mail them and strongly recommend that they provide a US address or refrain from further bids. If a buyer/seller have a conflict and their is no response from the party being accused of shady practices, I move on. Tech is very risky, if buying, I prefer Ebay stores, selling (which is rare), I check out any and all bidders as much as possible, especially if their transaction history is less than 10, Gotta do your due diligence or you will get "scammed" at some point.

If a person sells a fake and marks it "no return", money is still refunded. I bought a lighter that was supposed to have carbon fiber around it, and it had a carbon fiber graphic on it. The lighter was supposed to be made in Italy and it had a "made in China" sticker on the bottom. The seller could not produce a valid certificate of authenticity and my money was refunded. JUST SO EBAY SELLERS ARE AWARE: A buyer has up to 45 days with eBay to decide if they want to return an item for a refund - which in itself is ridiculous. If they pay via PAYPAL which most people do and the 45 day period is over with eBay...PAYPAL give them 180 DAYS to decide if they want a refund. This means that items can be used, soiled or broken and the buyer can file a claim saying the item wasn't as described in the original eBay listing and PAYPAL will immediately take the money from your account and give it back to the buyer. Do you know what the kicker is? THE BUYER IS NOT EVEN OBLIGED TO RETURN THE ITEM BACK TO THE SELLER. Ebay sellers have been treated like dirt all along and it is getting worse so please just take the above information into mind before shipping out your goods. I live In the UK and I am unsure if this applies to other countries so it is probably a good idea to look into this for yourself just to be safe. Be careful out there.

I have been an EBay goods buyer since 2006... and I have bought a LOT of goods on EBay. The goods have come from just about every corner of the planet. I only purchase via PayPal and, only once in all those years, did a buyer try to rip me off.... PayPal and Ebay sorted him out and I was refunded in full by PayPal... I read the goods on offer descriptions very carefully, before I commit to buying them...taking particular note of the postage costs (this is where shifty sellers can get greedy). Ironically, I have found that Chinese sellers rarely charge for postage or shipping. I have bought quite a lot of items from China and I have never had a problem. I live in Australia and I now am reluctant to purchase anything from the USA because of the ridiculous shipping costs the Americans add to their goods... In many cases, I can actually purchase the same goods from the UK, where the shipping costs are minuscule compared to the USA....and the UK is a lot further away from me. Example: I recently wanted to purchase three identical mobile phone covers.... USA $7 each PLUS $43 shipping..... UK (Ireland actually) $6 each - Plus $10 registered mail. Regardless of whether you buy something on line or over a shop counter, there is always a risk of being ripped off in one way or another. The human hunger for money is a sad reality in this World today.

The person buying it would have already paid for it (I hope) so you wouldn't be out the money unless you reimbursed the customer before you saw what was sent back to you... I think you and the customer were both scammed because the customer never probably received your item... That really sucks there are so many dishonest people out there... You run a good honest business and then something like this happens... I'm really sorry this happened to you and possibly one of your loyal customers

As a seller on ebay i go through the same crap lol, i take video of the stuff before sending off and if it returned i take another video, . I win 95% of the time.
@garybarnet34888 жыл бұрын
I have only sold a few items, but always take video evidence on what is packaged and when posting the same item. I have never yet had a problem, but I am prepared because of the efforts of people on these sites. I also take videos of unpacking everything I buy, but that started after I received what was supposed to be a 2TB external HDD which turned out to be a 8GB flash drive inside the correct case with 2x nuts and bolts glued in place to give weight to the item. The seller at first argued that I was trying to rip them off after I tested the unit with HDDscan, but stopped communicating when photos were posted. I got a refund.

I'm an ebay seller and buyer in Canada. I ONLY sell to the USA and Canada now. I was shafted for an item to France 10 years ago and stopped sales anywhere outside our 2 countries. When I buy from the USA, I ONLY buy from sellers that DON'T use the GSP. GSP adds triple shipping and taxes for anything over $20-$30. Never sell overseas or south of the border.

I've been a buyer and seller on Ebay since 1999 and I have been scammed several times. As a seller I shipped gold jewelry to a woman who then turned around and kept it and then complained to Ebay that the item was not real gold. I knew it was real gold because I used to work for the manufacturer of the item and I worked on the assembly line and made the actual item myself out of gold that I tested in the factory. So they conned Ebay into letting them get a refund from me without returning the item. The good news is that I was able to keep my reputation with a perfect rating and I got to keep their payment and Ebay was the one who lost out not me. I have had several sellers scam me. The worst one was when a seller took $300 and then made up every excuse in the book for not shipping the item to me. When I finally gave up and filed a complaint, Ebay told me it was too late. This was early on in my membership and it was when I discovered that law enforcement will do absolutely nothing. No law enforcement agency will take a report unless both the victim and the criminal were in their jurisdiction at the time the crime took place. The FBI won't involve itself in interstate crimes of money unless they crime involves an amount over $300,000.00, this according to the Boston FBI office. That was 15 years ago so the threshold is probably higher now. I was finally able to get ebay to give me a partial refund but I ended up losing $50 of my payment for Ebay's processing fees. A few years later there was a class action law suit and Ebay was ordered to refund 100% of payments to buyers when they get scammed by a seller. This may sound like enough to deter anyone from buying but I have purchased thousands of items from Ebay and only got scammed about half a dozen times. So 99.7% of sellers are honest and legitimate. The best policy is to simply be careful, read the entire description before bidding and understand what various trade words mean. For example, there are over a hundred different trade words for "gold plated" that someone who is not familiar with gold will not understand or realize it isn't real gold. If you just bought something that normally sells for $500 and you only paid $50, you probably are not going to get what you think you paid for. If you are buying an expensive item make sure you thoroughly check out the sellers reputation, their ratings and customer feedback and make sure they have been established for a few years. Do not buy a $10,000 gold necklace from someone who has been on Ebay only a month, sells nothing but high end gold jewelry, has a feedback score of 7 and a rating of 50% and sells out of China. That should be obvious but you'd be surprised at the number of buyers who don't bother looking before they bid and then it's too late. Also watch out for shipping scams. a lot of sellers will sell a $20 item for $1 then charge you $19 extra in shipping. When you get the item you find out it is not what was described but then you have to ship it back and you will only be refunded the $1 purchase price. Sellers should NEVER sell outside the United States or the country they are selling from unless the buyer is long standing and even then I don't advise it. It is incredibly difficult to fix a problem when the buyer is outside the country, especially if there is a language barrier. Plus you would be shocked at how much customs red tape there is for some nations. You can go to prison for shipping some electronic items to certain countries. Several countries don't permit you to ship items made of gold or precious metals to them. You can't ship certain kinds of collectibles to some countries, for example, you can't ship nazi related items to Germany. When shipping be ultra careful when packaging. Most breakage is due to ignorant shippers thinking they can just put a fragile glass antique in a bubble wrap shipping bag and nothing bad will happen. Each fragile item should be well cushioned and then each should get it's own separate corrugated cardboard box with packing between smaller boxes and all put in one large double walled congregated box. Carriers won't refund or honor insurance if you ship loose fragile items or package them improperly. I once had a seller ship me a collection of antique glass bottles all loose in a cardboard box. The collection cost me $150 + $30 in shipping. Of course not a single bottle survived. For some idiotic reason the seller thought that placing a label that said "fragile-glass" would magically protect the package. Sellers should know that the claims process for the post office can take up to six months during which time you are out the refund you sent your buyer. Buyers should NEVER let a seller talk them into making the claim. They will NEVER get their refund. This is because they only recognize the shipper as the holder of the insurance policy. By the time you figure it out you have long passed the Ebay complaint deadline. Make sure all addresses are current. I made this mistake. I thought I would only have to change my address once when I moved but when you go on Ebay there are about five separate places where you have to enter a new address and phone number. Make sure you get them all because you may end up losing an item and not get refunded since it was sent to the wrong address. I believe they have separate addresses for correspondence, returns, shipping destinations, physical residence and shipping origination if memory serves me correctly. If you miss one you may pay for your mistake like I did. I lost $100 that way. When I first signed up for Ebay there was only one address so I didn't know any better.

at least you were a good seller. I got scammed by a seller asking for a package to be returned and when I disputed a case he sent ebay different tracking information than he sent me showing it had arrived at a address. Of course ebay just said it showed my address, but I never got to see that tracking information even after requesting it privately. So I went on a 54 minute long phone call and eventually got a refund because the tracking information was not right. The tracing info I got even said delivered, but it was to a city and no address. And yes, with that same information I got to know that the package had been returned to ebay.

okay so for many people who don't understand what the yellow tape is, i will teach and educate you on this matter, when Chinese sellers send stuff to USA or Europe or any part of the world the Chinese customs will open the package to check if there is counterfeits, so they open the packages and then they will close it back and tape it with that yellow tape that has the Chinese language so that they can mark it as checked

This is exactly why I only sell items within the same country (UK), United States and the EU. Arseholes like ai2013 are part of the reason that most countries no longer have access to my listings :).
@BritishRail600629 жыл бұрын
***** That is exactly why I no longer post worldwide. I got scammed once and I was damn determined that it would never happen again. Commercial traders are covered by insurance against most losses I think. But for a private seller. £105 is a lot of money to lose not to mention that the rogue buyer can still leave the seller negative feedback on top of this (talk about adding insult to injury here). The odds are well stacked against the seller in terms of international trading and its not bloody fair mate :(. On the positive side, all my UK selling has been trouble-free and I always put the buyer first as I pack my items extremely generously :).
@BritishRail600629 жыл бұрын
***** I am sorry to hear that mate. Those f**kers should be strung up by their balls for doing shit like that. Just be careful mate and don't open anything if it looks strange as HMRC never send file attachments to people usually. Talking of scams, I have recently had some spoof e-mails from PayPal and eBay saying that my account is restricted/terminated. I'm like "yeah right!" and I just forward them to PayPal and eBay to investigate without opening them. They are convincing bastards to the untrained eye. But having worked in the security field, I know all the tricks in the books and these fraudulent scuzzbags would need to try harder than that to outsmart me :). Just keep this in the back of your head mate, if it sounds too good to be true - it most likely is.

Chinese rarely shipped in box. They just toss it in a bag and shipped it. Keep in mind, been in bottom of 1 ton crate inside cargo are more likely to be damaged. I brought myself Mach 3 razor for $5 with free shipping, received it inside a plastic bag and razor was cracked.

For future reference when you sell someone something on eBay and they want to return do not send them their money until you get the product back any big company would do the same thing they would send you a return postage and then they would send the item and then they would then send the money back once they got the item
