Hey Geoffrey that really sucks to hear and I deeply feel for you as an IT service desk engineer. There are some free ways you can back up your files automatically, like Veeam agent. You can use that to send to a cloud repository or to an external hard drive. Paid solutions are best though, an upfront IT cost from a reputable business will save you many, many headaches down the road. If you start gathering many users I also recommend you run phishing campaigns using sources like Dark Web ID. A business’ deepest vulnerability is a security clueless user base.

@@alwaysinverted1224I’m also pretty much clueless about computers and I also don’t answer calls from numbers that I don’t know. I get some of the craziest voicemails from these scammers. I also had someone send me a check, to my business, that was an “over-payment”, they emailed me and wanted me to send them the money immediately. @@amp2375 not everyone understands computers, though. And scam baiters push buttons that make it more obvious. My parents aren't even retirement age and are mystified by basic troubleshooting stuff. They wouldn't think anything of someone pulling things up and pointing out things that are "out of place." It's literally the same song and dance as a shady mechanic taking you to the engine and pointing out "this needs to be fixed" for things that are still fine... If you aren't aware of what is normal in a system-be it plumbing, computers, medical, cars, electrical... Then trusting the ones who were educated and trained is the logical approach. So if you're not sure how a serpentine belt looks, that shady mechanic can easily fool you. In the same way that if you're not used to how support actually does things... This could feel like a normal "oh my God, old people are so dumb about technology, why do I have to do this" kinda attitude and interaction.

RitaMcBee thats totally a great idea:) the scammers are working together, so let’s work together too and do this somehow organized. I can give time, others maybe hacking stuff etc. Many people do their thing, there are many small groups who are fighting this. The scammers have a network (check hushpuppi,scam) in which people Email,scam, others provide bank accounts, passports, anything imaginable they can use to pull it off, so it would be awesome if we had something like that too, so we could connect and work together. Law enforcement starts to do more, however they take street patrolling more seriously then this and if you report it this it’s we can’t really do something, whilst it totally destroys people lives. People commit suicide over it. Whilst they flaunt their ‘new found’ money in buying Bentley and brand clothes. The total amount they scam is baffling, so yes we should put a stop to this. Where what how, Also people should be more informed (by ten government ? Starting at school, re bromancescams etc. make business safe so they don’t fall for these email scams and wire to the wrong account. There is the real big money. Also a lot of people are ashamed when this happened to them. the scammer counts on that feeling,, so the person doesn’t report it. If they know about this groups they may feel better, in helping out. I also wonder how banks can work more.. re accounts just used for getting money and transferring it to bitcoin.

Yes we’ve seen the higher end stuff on this channel where those with actual talent end up scamming, but like in our own country, many who turn to crime have not been impressive enough to have lots of other options. These are the people who lacked the focus and attention to make it into the regular call centers. They are not people with developed charisma, or even patience in a lot of cases. Or for that matter the ability to see when the day is lost. They are very susceptible to the same sunken cost fallacy that some of these scams use: they have invested too much to leave empty handed.

They removed it from Windows 10 in 2017, mostly for this very reason.
@wrestlerx84943 жыл бұрын
@@jdatlas4668 I just posted a comment asking about this because I had heard that SysKey had been removed. However, I seem to recall using a system with Windows 10 installed on it and still being able to set a password or being asked for one. I could be remembering wrong though, but if Windiws 10 still allows passwords, then it's still the exact same issue because a scammer would only need to change your password during a remote session in order to take over your PC.
@jdatlas46683 жыл бұрын
@@wrestlerx8494 you mean like, a Windows login password? Most people will presumably have one set these days (mainly because Windows setup really, really wants you to set one), and you can’t change it without knowing it. Also with how aggressively you’re badgered to use a Microsoft account where I believe you can’t change the password like that anyway I’d assume it’s not nearly as much of an issue.
@knokgroda3 жыл бұрын
Apparently, for win10, the scammers often install a program to lock your computer instead, but the company for that program has published solutions to remove the password if anyone use their software to scam or blackmail people.
