I am so sorry for you! This person Adam who scammed you is a devil and should be in Nigerian jail for life! This was just heartbreaking to listen to. Even if you are in a real romantic relationship, NEVER, send pictures or videos that can compromise you. One day you are fine with that person and the next everything is so screwed. Is so common sense. Hope she learned her lesson and hope one day that scammer and all scammers pay in jail time the horrors they inflict on their victims.

This is a good reminder that if you send a picture it should be G rated. Don't send money to someone you haven't met in person. When asked cry poor. Say that you need money yourself.

Nah, this is bad advice! When requests for money or pics happen--IT'S TOO LATE. Better advice: don't flirt w a stranger & get hooked. An addict will do ANYTHING for supply! Chat briefly & meet or MOVE ON

Wow! This is really terrible. I hope her and her family is able to heal well from this. It is great that she shared her story to help spread awareness, and as a lesson to others. I have watched/listened to many Romance Scam stories, and I cannot understand how, in extreme cases like this one, the victim chooses the "supposed lover", over themself. What I mean is, that if a "supposed lover" askd one to do something that would jeopadize one's self, why choose to do that thing??? Like getting loans, selling one's home, emptying one's life savings, etc., especially not having met the supposed lover in person. There is no obligation to that person...

Wow. I can’t imagine. I just wish people would realize to NEVER send any naked photos or videos to ANYONE! Once they are out there, you can’t get them back. Years ago I had struck up an online friendship with the uncle of another online friend of mine. After a week of chatting (we were both interested in art) he suddenly sent me a photo of his (junk) I was so shocked. I replied that I don’t do sexting and blocked him. If someone asks you to send “adult” videos or pics of yourself, BLOCK THEM IMMEDIATELY!

A former aquantance of mine got scammed many years ago, when we didn't have such a big online presence, nor social media crazyness. She was looking for a job and the "company" asked her for a tax for processing her paperwork or something like that. We didn't have euros back then, but compared to present sums, it would be around 200 euros or more. She paid and then the so called employers stopped answering their phone.

This was a heart breaking story. I’ve been talking with a woman who claims she’s a nurse in the marines but then she said she’s in the army… I’m not sure if she’s a scammer so I’m being careful

The government should send a weekly PSA, including a link to similar testimonies on all forms of media. Basically, beat the public over the head until the scams are no longer viable.

It’s not the governments job to protect people from them selves. Often times when victims taking money out of their bank accounts, the bank will warn them that it could be a scam. Recently I’ve heard victims saying when they’ve withdrew large sums of money, they have to sign a paper stating that they know who the recipient is. This way the bank is not liable if the victim later discovers the person is a scammer.

There are some truly horrific outcomes for some of the people in the stories here. When a marriage is not fulfilling it looks as though the resulting loneliness is acute. The emotional impact is more severe than when friendships go wrong.

Very sad. Malta is about 700 miles from Italy. It doesn’t make sense to send the money to someone in Italy if Adam is in Malta.

Here's a thumbnail vers. of my story. A 75y/o client of mine, in Northern Cal. Widowed, 2 estranged, adult kids. Sold her house/car. raised $1.1m. Sent it all to 2 scammers. Been dealing with them for 5 yrs. Still believes they're "real". I've given up trying to talk sense into her. He things in public storage$1,600/MO. Lives out of her suit cases in motels. I'm more mad at her situation than she is.

I am late to this story. My sympathies are with her husband not her. She got herself a “fatal attraction” of sorts and it was completely unnecessary. Scammers are just the lowest form of life. Liars and thieves. I hope her husband has recovered and moved on.

Did he send a package to your home? If not and he's asking you to accept a package , the scam will come when the fake delivery company contacts you asking for "payment" the payment will be the scam. If a package does come to your home without some mysterious delivery company asking for payment, then the contents of the package will likely be items bought with a stolen credit card and they are using you as a mule. Either way it's a scam
