Glad you enjoyed it! Easiest, almost-free way to get started is a Sunfish. Cheap used ones are everywhere (just watch a few videos on what to look out for first). You can manhandle it most situations, to get out of trouble. And it's way more fun than most boats, minute to minute, because it's really fast (it planes), easy to launch, and you can even carry enough gear on it to camp if you have a place to put up a tent or a hammock tent at the end of the day.
