Colorado School of Mines used to have a pyrotechnics degree. When I went there a graduate with that degree would come back for every homecoming and put on a fireworks display. This consisted mostly of dynamite and mortars being lit off in the middle of the football field while we were in the stands. The dynamite was loud and made an impressive flash. The mortars didn't have the bit that launched them into the air. They just went off in the middle of the field and the burnt out embers landed on us. I don't appreciate any other fireworks show I ever go to, because the things are going off way farther away than is strictly necessary, and that was the magic of that guy and his degree. He knew exactly how close to shave it without maiming us, and it was spectacular in a way I don't think I will ever again experience in my life.

I just realized I watch Modern Rogue for the same reason I used to watch Mythbusters. Two dudes screwing around building and doing shit to prove a point all while being funny. Except I think modern rogue is funnier. But Adam Savage is still a god
@Ragnarock2275 жыл бұрын
They NEED to get Adam on this show! XD
@mistertwister20003 жыл бұрын
MR is typically funnier because: 1. They have more creative freedom. Mythbusters was tightly controlled by TV providers who made sure every joke and test was okay for TV and that everything they did fit into a half hour time slot. The Modern Rogue is far more freeform in what they can do, and videos can be as long or as short as they need. 2. The Modern Rogue isn’t edited to keep you watching through commercial breaks. Even when watching Mythbusters on Hulu you can get exhausted with the way they constantly cut away before the action, it was edited to make sure people watched the entire show. Again, the MR crew don’t have to do it because you’re watching a KZbin video, you can skip forward if you want. The editing feels tight and clean, not done up for TV. 3. Brian and Jason have real chemistry. Adam Savage has gone on record multiple times saying that he and Jaime (Jaimie?) weren’t friends, merely coworkers. They respected each other and worked together, but they weren’t anything closer than mild work acquaintances, even by the end. Brian and Jason, meanwhile, are genuinely good friends. Their banter is much funnier because they have similar experiences and get along so well, to the point that even ads and scripted bits are better because they just know how to make each other laugh. Even the guests are typically more at ease and willing to joke with the guys because they just seem so friendly.

3:45 Jason says “you take 6 memories with you into the afterlife, I think that’s one of mine”. I actually contacted him to see where that quote came from because it really stuck with me. He told me it was from a book his wife read called The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan. I know this video is old but if anyone hears that and wants to know where it came from. Here you go.

8:15 MAYBE. Silencers made without a tax stamp are only illegal on firearms (airguns and potato cannons are ok) BUT some places classify potato guns as large bore destructive devices, BUTTTTTT it also depends on their use. In this case, it would probably be fine, the ATF or local police would likely only take issue if you were using it in a threatening manner, or shooting people. I believe Texas DOES classify them as DD's, but again, as long as it isn't "designed or redesigned" (intended) as a weapon, you'll most likely be ok.
