I know the trend of youtubers attending the battle of Copenhagen is a newer thing. But as a lifelong Brondby fan that has been going to games since the early 2000s I have to say the atmosphere is not how it used to be at Brøndby Stadion. After the GFH takeover the loudest fans stopped singing and moved to the upper part of Sydsiden or simply stayed away. For the last two years the fan base have slowly recovered and new groups have joined in to create atmosphere and some of the old ones have started again. But we are not back to what it used to be. Tifos are way more rare than they used to be. And the chants are not as loud and consistant as back in the day. It is often overlooked by people that just visit that we hit a lowpoint only two years ago and are still recovering. Hopefully we will keep improving over the next few years and hopefully the pointless violence will stop.

Tbf i cant speak for all fans but i think a majority of fans dont mind VAR. Of course some dislike it, but there arent widespread campaigns against it such as you see in Norway or Sweden. Maybe thats in part because its already been implemented but i dont know. There also wasnt much fuss when it did get introduced. The match was horrible. It was unfortunate you didnt get to experience a better game which also would’ve improved the atmosphere. Its pretty common in the big games for the away supporters to be withheld for some time. But the security is also notoriously bad at Brøndby stadium. Which is also how a few from the Brøndby Ultras were able to run all the way from their own section to the away end while firing fireworks at them - an issue that the official FCK supporter group attempted to address with the authorities and Brøndby before the match. Its near impossible to imagine that happening at any other danish stadium. A few other teams have also experienced “not nice stuff” when having to leave the ground aswell. The Danish authorities, FA or whoever does the punishments are also rather strict, especially when compared to Sweden (i think). Multiple Danish clubs have had their ultras section closed for simply using Pyro this season.

@@ciprycipry4261yeah i’m not even kidding. Its happened for FCK and AGF that had some fireworks too. Brøndbys punishment for the behaviour and pyro at this match was Sydsiden banned for the remaining home games (3) of the year and maximum 14000 people in the ground. They are really going overboard with the punishments from this season its ridiculous. Other clubs have also recieved “suspended sentences” for pyro this season.

everyone i know who is like really into football hates VAR :D Most people i talk to on match days dont think it really changed much besides killing the joy of football.. Im from copenhagen btw... But the guys i talk to ofc is not representative for all fans :)

You guys should have had the 51% rule. Really helps to protect the supporter culture. Even though for example Swedish football is worse compared to danish football, the atmosphere tifos and fan culture is much better and in my opinion that is more important.

How is this derby tifos? A small flag for FCK and just some pyro for Brøneby. Compared to any derby in Sweden and especially Stockholm these displays are like halftime quality. Is this supposed to be the biggest derby in Denmark?

It used to be different. 2 Years ago GFH bought Brøndby, and our ultra group protested and stopped attending games cause of it. Now they moved up to the upper of Sydsiden, to get rid of all the coffee drinkers, and made it harder to get tickets for the ultra section. Tifos and stuff has been more rare after GFH came, and the reason for that i would say was the absence for a year from our ultra group. It is not how it used to be, but its getting better and better. On the 14 february we have our 60 year anniverserry, and i can promise you their will be a big tifo for that game. Hope this made a little sense, otherwise you can research it a bit yourself :)

Danish football doesn’t have 51%. And København is quite a young club, Brøneby compared to the Stockholm clubs is also quite young. In Stockholm we have three of the largest teams in Swedish footballs which all where founded in the late 18-hundreds. The supporter culture in the Stockholms clubs and the supporter groups are older than København and almost as old as brøneby. The hate is so much stronger just because of the history, which leads to fiercer derbys in my option. I might not go as far as to say it’s a plastic derby, however compared to the old original football, history and atmosphere in Swedish and especially Stockholm football, you could make the argument that this is more of a commercial product then generations of culture and hate.

@@nils8876 FCK is the continuation of KB (1876) and B1903 (1903), and the supporterculture is a continuation of those as well so even tho the club was created in 1992, the roots of FCK goes way back. KB's supporterculture began in the late 70's fyi. The two derbies can't really be compared and have very different histories. there used to be 5 big clubs of Copenhagen (most were older than stockholm clubs) competing with each other, but all of them kinda died/were ruined when Brøndby emerged out of nowhere, so the hatred between FCK/KB/B1903 and Brøndby has been here for longer than you might think. Both great, but different derbies in my opinion
