I think your tutorial is easy to follow. I watched it fully and then watched it again as I was making it, pausing at times. I made a few of them for gifts this year. Thank you!

A good 'how-to' video that I admit I had to watch over and over to get the hang of it! I found that a set of chopsticks that were going unused in my kitchen utensil drawer are PERFECT for tucking the tail!

About 20 years ago I was excited to find the directions on this star. Everyone at my Christmas party made one be to take home. Only I used florist ribbon to do them. They came out very pretty. When we were children, we made them from construction paper then dipped them puffin wax and sprinkle with glitter. No matter what you use, they turn out beautiful!

Florist ribbon usually is wired. Is the wire necessary? Thanks...I want to do these in ribbon.
@gerilynne19553 жыл бұрын
@@auntiebobbolink not all florist ribbon is wired. The thin ribbon is not. You can buy it at craft stores in the width you want it. It was nice to work with because it was stiff enough but flexible enough.

Absolutely darling! I'm Scandinavian by descent.... so these caught my eye. I'm on my second one! the first one I made without ironing the fabric, as I was so excited to make it. The second one I've ironed it all proper...….. and it's even better. I get a little stuck on making the points and "tucking it in" as my finger seems too big... I use the eraser end of a pencil to push it in and it's a little easier. Just love these and am going to make a set of 2 or 3 for each of my sisters for Christmas! Thank you for the very excellent tutorial!
@claireryan80745 жыл бұрын
Marilyn McLeod I make these with good quality wrapping paper, cutting 2 inch strips along the length of the roll. I only have to fold the strips in half. For strength I brush them with Modge Podge and sprinkle them with glitter.

Is there any reason these couldn't be made with ribbon?
@hazelpeterson3653 жыл бұрын
@@auntiebobbolink Most Scandinavian stars are made with paper that is glossy on one side. I have made them with that kind of paper, wrapping paper (heavier works better than very cheap), and with paper satin ribbon. I think cloth satin ribbon might be too soft and not give crisp enough folds.

I wondered if I could use material make the Moravian stars! Great video! I make mine out of 60# acid free paper ( so they don’t yellow year to year) - I wonder if you used stabilizer if in-fact the front points could be made to complete the star- I might have to give it a try but I’m currently bogged down with To- Do List that it will be after the holidays- thanks great video!
