I was fortunate to know Harley and learn from him during my time at Luther College, and just want to say that he is an absolute gem of a man. His love of the craft is infectious, and his knowledge, kindness, and patience make him a joy to be around.

What a great video! I was fortunate enough to take a class with Mr. Refsal once. Not only was the class interesting and very enjoyable, but Harley was truly one of he nicest and kindest people I had ever met! His books are wonderful, but meeting him in person and taking a class from him is unbeatable! Thank you, Harley Refsal!

This was a wonderful video, thank you for sharing. Mr. Refsal’s carvings are amazing but what I admire most is his commitment to encouraging others to take up carving or other hand work. Thank you Harley!

King Harold was my colonel in chief of my old regiment The Green Howard’s and we use to have this hard compilation each year to win the king Harold company but no one wanted to win it because the next year that company had to do all the shows which where a pain in the arse as well lol

Thanks for a wonderfull video. I have one question to ask. Which kind of Wood did you use for carving when you lived in Norway ? I live in Denmark and have no basswood. Very best regards Esben Back.
