Just been involved in a job where they used the vac-ex truck. So much safer and quicker than hand digging when you have gas, electric, streetlighting, two data cable ducts, water mains all within a 3m footpath. A spade or drill through any of them and it gets expensive very quickly.

Remember driving an old ERF back in the day, with the old Road Ranger gear box, & pulling the decompression toggle to turn off the engine, such joy! Roping, sheeting, chaining, luckily now I’m retired. 👏🏻👍🏻

Loved watching trucks. Use to work at an office district that was beside a motorway. There was a little canal with a bridge that ran between the two. I use to go stand on the bridge about the motorway and ask to truckers to give me tones! It was awesome. Best way to send half an hour I'd say

Tim I got told if you can drive an ERF......you can drive anything. Also told when driving up hill and you down shift and miss the gear first go.......you end up stopping and start from a standstill..... I thought ya ya..... Untill I missed a gear in foxholes in a EC10. Yep I had to start again.......lol

That off-road truck was mad! See if you can check the Dakkar trucks out those are insane. Old Mercedes 814 we had on hire you couldn't turn off with the key either. There was a little button on the floor to press with your foot.

I'm frequently on sites where vac-ex trucks are used. Awesome bits of kit all round, and even the Volvos that we have's interiors are decked out! Brilliant to see.

Hi Tim you don't know you are born , I was brought up on the gardner engine 5 cylinder 120 bhp 6 cylinder 180 bhp and the bees knees 8 cylinder 240 bhp driving them and repairing them back in the 70 and 80 . Then in the 90s driving a Volvo F7 twin tub as poeple called them and them on to Volvo FL10 better known as a wendy house which I did over 650 ,000 thousand km in them both

Hi Tim such a great video cant believe that truck can be driven by remote control would of loved to see the truck go round the motocross track plus the drive shaft aint a big job I had to do that on my ford focus just got to remember to replace any gearbox oil if you do it yourself.
