Add some fog, rain, snow, smoke, and the NW will reign superior.

Pick both (or in my case three tints LOL). You'll love the flexibility of just swapping the head out depending on the situation.

No, it looks Neutral if you have a high CRI led in it, without a high CRI even neutralwhite is not pleasant.

I have an Acebeam T27 for throw, but this little instrument is unreal.
@Xtreme_Airgun_Slugs4 жыл бұрын
How much distance of throw you get on that? I'm actually checking out Acebeam and I'm on the fence because I want a true thrower but I just can't get an answer. Help a brother out! Edit: I should specify that I have ordered a Sofirn Q8 6500K (very cool white) and am wondering if you can compare them? If not, I would just like to know the specs of your Acebeam and your personal opinion on it as far as throw, flood, tint, kelvin temp ect. Thank you!
@liberty07584 жыл бұрын
@@Xtreme_Airgun_Slugs hey man, I have sold the T27 as I didn't really have much need for it, and I'm more of a flood guy. Anyway, as far as throw is concerned, it's crazy. I couldn't measure it, but it can throw far. 2500 lumens on turbo it's really bright, gets hot quickly but that's expected from any light. Tight hotspot with enough spill to see around as well. Mine was cool white tint, not sure about temp. I reckon around 6000K, maybe even 6500K. I've got the E10 as well, little tiny thrower, even tighter hot spot due to TIR lens. Very little spill, but for the size it throws really nice. Not familiar with that Sofirn though. I know the brand, just never had their lights. Hope I helped a bit. No problem man.

I've been trying to tell the car manufactures that NW is safer when a person or animal runs in front of your car. Exactly like the flashlights you have compared with deer. All the new vehicles are very cool white! I like NW for a flashlight best, but I own some CW also. Recently got a Emisar D4SV2 in SST-20 5000k. Its a beast at 4200 lumen but less of the thrower than the Catapult V6. If you order any SST-20 flashlights that are multi LED in 6500k and very high lumen like the Emisar there can be a very greenish light on low to medium settings so 5000k is a better choice as its more yellow and warm and therefore less bizarre looking. I think its due to the LED pigment and having a lot of them so it tints the light more, a single LED pulling low similar output fairs better since your asking more of the one LED and its less pigment to mix in.

Pick both when it comes to long range throwers (or in my case... three tints LOL). You'll love the flexibility of just swapping the head out depending on the situation. Also, try Acebeam T27; around the same compact size but at an insane 1180m throw @ 2500 Lumens. I have three (3) and swapped the LEDs to my favorite tints & CRI's based on needs/features, & a good Kelvin spread between them: 1) 2700K 90CRI Warm Tint | Maximum dust, smoke, rain, snow, and fog penetration without nasty reflection + lovely, homely/candle incandescent tint in a long range thrower, but with a little less throw and noticeably less brightness at longer distance; vivid reds, yellows, & browns, though whites will look very yellowish. Still awesome to experience this one though for some reason, especially in the twilight (just after sunset before it gets real dark, or just before sunrise in the early morning)… I like it! 2) 4500K 90CRI Neutral Tint | Near-perfect looking color accuracy with a wide, center-balanced color range, great throw & very good whites (only so slightly leaning warm). 4500K seems to hit the spot for me when I can't choose between colors and whites and seems to provide the best overall color & detail recognition. 3) 7000K 70CRI Cool Tint | Brightest & harshest eye blinder due to increased underlying blue spectrum + has maximum throw & lumens for added wow factor; vivid blues & greens + highest contrast for increased outer shape/outline recognition (Dense tree pine needles/shadows might look more annoying though during movement; think cool-tint helicopter light, ugh). The stock 6000K is just about as good for this with not terribly much difference (and probably not worth modding but i did anyway for the slight increase in specs; Acebeam 6000Ks are binned pretty high already it seems. ... but the T27s do come standard in 5000K/6000K @ 70 CRI, and I couldn't recommend more trying these or the new T28 which is a little bigger of a reflector but close to the same length! The Catapult was my 2nd runner up choice actually though, and probably the best for a 26650 battery tube size spec if that's what you want. Also, you may want to try a Golisi 4300mah Gold 26650 and see if you can gain some additional lumens in your Catapult as its the hardest hitting 26650 (according to battery comparator tool which you can search the web for). Recommend Molicel P42A for the T27's as a spare battery (The Acebeam included cells are very nice custom model LGs underneath, but Molicel 21700 rocks for boost circuits!). My overall favorite tint of all time (short to mid-range distance) is actually 90-95+ CRI 3500K with its incredibly awesome color saturation of warms (the very best red, yellow, & browns with decent blue & green rendering, without overly yellowish whites). 4000K comes in as a very close 2nd place with very good to excellent warms (red, yellow, & brown) and satisfying blues & greens; both 3500K and 4000K allow for a very rich color saturation, with a slight hit to white (but without becoming too yellow like 3000K or lower). 4500K is a close 3rd when I want better whites without losing too much color saturation (A nice balance of good warms, good cools, & very good whites). Other Tints: 5000K for working, cooking, general lighting, etc... Perfect whites; neutral 5000K has the absolute best white rendering. Whites look clean and perfectly white/neutral, without leaning warm or cool in the slightest bit (this is at the expense of warmer colors beginning to start taking a negative hit). 5700K is good for photography and also viewing photos by cheering up the tint ever so slightly, making daytime grass greens and sky blues pop just a bit more life-like and naturally, without de-saturating warmer colors as drastically as 6000K & 7000K+ do (but they will start to take a more noticeable hit); whites are somewhere between good to very good. Then 2700K (or less) for relaxing and also very close-range ground pointed lighting to illuminate the immediate foot stepping path in very dark and possibly treacherous landscapes without being too distracting (attached to a 360° rotating belt holster for instance). 3000K... Well, I never figured out what this one is good for after owning and testing it (and hence never fell in love with it)... it’s basically so close to 2700K anyhow and still looks very yellowish, though maybe not as much, but close... in this case at only 300K difference, I would rather just step up to 3500K (which I love) for a very noticeably wonderful and unique tint! ps. Sorry for hijacking the comment section! I just hope it helps someone interested in different tints...

as far as cool white vs neutral white. To the human eye blue will be perceived brighter than red. cool means more blue and neutral means mid road of both warm (redder) and cool (blue-er) but more accurate colors will always be had with neutral white. unless were talking viewing meat then theres special CRI (color rendering index) lighting for kitchens. anything over 80 CRI is best for that... Low CRI makes meat and fruit etc look bland and tasteless while high CRI makes meat look healthy and juicy and well.. red.
@hanf0225 жыл бұрын
I would like to say something to that. Cool white or neutral white is not so extremely important. More important is a HIGH CRI led index, a lot of people do not care about that but a higher CRI gives you better colours and is also more pleasant for the eyes, for example if you work in front of you with a light. A low CRI led makes your eyes tired with time it's very unpleasant to look at.
@practicalguy9735 жыл бұрын
Never heard of cool white with high CRI. Its always neutral and warm LEDs that have the higher CRI ratings in pretty much any light I've seen. If there is a high CRI cool white flashlight I'd be interested in that.

Cool white all day. I always like that bright "bluish whitish" type of flashlight shine. Rather than just a white flash. Like the other one has that yellowish type of shine that some flashlights have. Like does one have led lights and one doesn't?

Thanks very much for your excellent review. You did the battery and cool/neutral checking very thorough. And you discovered amazing differences in performance. My experiments show exactly the same. Ok, neutral has less lumens than cool white, that is to be expected. But those strange differences between batteries. I have no idea. Only I can say: testing like this takes a lot of time but is fun to do😀🔦 And I forgot: that oldie (1920) is a dream of a light. Ok, lumens? No not much. But the style is amazing. Thanks for showing

nice video,have you ever noticed that newbies to the flashlight game tend to lean towards the high white 6500k and as they progress with their illness tend to gravitate towards the warmer colored lights? I know i did,i own the catapult v6 in cool white now you have me wanting the warmer version,it seems they tend to produce more accurate color rendering than the cool white lights,but shining them against a wall same lumens different temp the cool version overwhelm the warm version in brightness. excellent video Adam
