Major Tim Gregory, MD, discusses SCANXIETY, the distress that comes with waiting for cancer scan results. Somebody who's been a patient or walked beside a patient knows that MRI scans are not a fun procedure. It's long, loud, and uncomfortable. But there's a deeper aspect, the fear of what does the diagnosis mean. Fortunately, doctor and patient can work together to develop coping strategies.
Major Gregory is responsible for a new brain tumor program at the Madigan Center with a clinical research focus. His primary academic interest is medical student and resident education. He is the only military neuro-oncologist on the West Coast and is actively leveraging telemedicine services to provide care to military beneficiaries who lack access to neuro-oncology in underserved regions, including Alaska and Hawaii.
