Scar had the good life, he didn't have to do anything and was still allowed to lived in the kingdom and do as he please seeing he was the king brother, its more understandable why the hyenas hated Mufase, who did treated them wrong, but you can ague he had his reasons seeing what becomes of the kingdom once Scar allows the hyenas to take over.

0:34 The moment Simba said he will command his own uncle , it pissed him off . I think there was a chance that Scar could try to be a good uncle to Simba . Simba was just a cub and like we kids do , we usually boast stuff about what we do in the future . And Scar having that hatred against Mufasa and holding it off for a little longer until Simba boasted .

Agree 100%, his excellent acting almost makes up completely for the lack of emotion on the character's faces because they had to sacrifice it for the realism. He by far did the best job, also zazu and sarabi's actors did pretty well. Everyone else kind of sucked lmao.

Scar was easily the best part of the movie. The woman who voiced Shenzi was good too but because of the writing, Shenzi's personality was stripped away, so all she really needed to do was sound menacing and bitter. Scar had an actual personality and Chiwetel Ejiofor took full advantage of it and made the character his own.

The animated version was flamboyant and quite over the top in a mustache twirling, cartoon villain way. This Scar? A legitimate psychopath who is bitter and pissed off at everyone around him. Chiwetel Ejiofor doesn't get enough credit for this role.

@@DeadmanInc336 I think the reason Chiwetel Ejiofor doesn't get credit is because the rest of the movie was dogshit. Ironically, the man who really exemplified this was one of the best actors in the cast. James Earl Jones was terrible in this movie especially when you compare his performance to the original. He actually cared when he voiced Mufasa 25 years earlier but in this movie, he was completely phoning it in.

To be honest the 2019 version of scar is better in terms of character development because he’s more of a sympathetic character but in the original one we just don’t know his backstory
