Here I add a note on Greenlandic. There are over 6000 languages in the world .According to the historical method of language classification, all these languages are reduced to about 2 dozens of language families. One of them is the Eskimo family of which we know very little. The languages affiliated to this family are spread in the Arctic region around the North Pole. These are spoken in Alaska , Arctic Canada, Greenland, Arctic Siberia and Aleutian islands near Bering Strait. The Eskimo language of Greenland known by the name Greenlandic is the most important. It is a language that is described as an incorporating language. It is also called holophrastic or polysynthetic. In this type of language, sentence is regarded as an unit of language and not the word. Here a sentence looks like a long word . It consists of a few words which are incorporated into a single form . But this is no simple amalgamation. Each component word is curtailed and thus presents a sentence consisting of a single inordinately long word . Let me illustrate the point with an oft-quoted sentence ( found in many books ) . In Greenlandic there is a sentence : Aulisariartorasuarpok meaning He hastens to go fishing. The components are : aulisar meaning to catch fish , peartor meaning to be engaged in something , pinnesuarpok meaning he rushes . Here it is noteworthy that only the first component is kept intact while others are truncated The national Anthem of Greenland was composed by Henrik Lund who was a priest , poet and painter ( 1875 - 1948 ) . Prasanta Barman, MA in Sanskrit Retired College Professor West Bengal , India .

I believe it's Greenlandic. I was told that people in the east can't understand the people in the west!

@@ScarboroughTourist it's not that we can't understand. It's dialect. Like Scandinavian countries. Same language family, but different dialect.

Where are the trees??
@ScarboroughTourist4 жыл бұрын
It's called Greenland but there are no trees. It has the least dense country population in the world.There are no roads between places; it's all ice. Tourists go to see the icebergs. The longest road is 20 kilometers, at Kangerlussuaq, and that was built as a test track by Mercedes Benz. Hope that answers your query.

I feel sadnees in this video. It is a lonely place, and the loneliness is evident in the songs. Could someone translate the songs, p!ease. It would give deeper meaning to the video.

So you basically stood at one spot and filmed all around you and call it 10 mins of Greenland??? There is nothing in this video.. just ice..
@ScarboroughTourist4 жыл бұрын
You might be surprised to know that Greenland is virtually nothing but ice !! There are no roads between places. It is the least populated country in the world. Tourists have nothing else to look at and ice is what tourists want to look at.

It is unfortunate that they only have a false church there. I can see a cross on the steeple which is pagan. I hope one day the church established by Jesus will be established in Greenland 🙏🏼
