That was a wonderful trip. Happy Birthday Talia ! And happy pride...I saw my first up close sea otter in Morro Bay Harbor, Cal. Morning was quiet except for the sound of a cracking rock , I was sitting on a bench drinking morning coffee and saw close by otters floating on their back and one was cracking a Mussell or some shelled thing to open and eat. It was amazing. Thank you .

Talia - HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY! I can imagine it was wonderful! I loved looking at the buildings - but especially the mountains and water. LOVE mountains. My bear story is a bit funny. I now live in Europe, but it was in the Pacific Northwest of the USA (where I'm from). I was out hiking in the mountains with partner and a son. They had gone down one way toward a lake while I was walking along, taking pictures of various trees, plants and tall, dense bushes along the way. When I got down to my family and a couple of other hikers - one of those hikers asked, "Weren't you afraid?!" I asked..."Of what?". They just stare, stunned. It turns out that a cinnamon bear (a subspecies of the American black bear) was on the other side of the bushes, going along at the same pace I was - for quite a while - apparently enjoying things as I was (NOTE: I had bells and such on, knowing the area). Anyway, the bear just stopped and watched as I went down to meet the folks at the lake. They said that since the bear had appeared "mellow", they hadn't want to cause any problems for either of us. When I turned to look, wanting to make a photo...the bear had disappeared (sigh). No one else had a camera or such on them, so I don't have a visual of it. Just goes to show that so much more goes on than what we are aware of.

Otters are my favorite creature in the world. They will also sleep with their arms locked together creating a “raft”. Alaska is a incredible state.

A Kenai Fjords tours are totally worth the money. We saw tons of whales and otters and puffins. Sea otters are my favorite when they eat crabs.

The plant with the stickers are called Devils Club. Do not touch it. The spines are hooked and don’t come out of your skin. The plants can get over 8 feet tall.

Happy birthday Talia! I hope you had a wonderful day. Happy Pride ladies. Our pride weekend is June 17th here in Rhode Island and I'm so looking forward to it! That lake looked amazing! It's breathtaking experiences like that that make me dream of having my own travel van someday! I follow this family on KZbin that lives in North Pole Alaska and I get to how beautiful Alaska is. They're an amazing family called Somers in Alaska. They do so much good for their community. I've never come across any bears but we've had many in our area lately. It's getting scary. I truly loved this video. You look like you had so much fun. That town looks like a New England area. So many boats. My grandfather was a lobsterman so I love the small town life. Ty for sharing ❤

Happy belated Talia. Looks like Alaska is THE place to celebrate your birthday. I love the otters! I have many, many bear stories as they walk thru my backyard all the time. I live in Northeast Ontario just outside a small city. Last week I saw my 1st bear of the season - it came to visit me while I was gardening. You can also do some epic hikes in Seward. I highly recommend camping at Miller’s Landing in Seward. You can do sea kayak tours from there and it’s not as expensive as a Kenai Fjords tour. However, the Kenai Fjords tour is worth what you pay.

Omg, I am a sea otter freak! I agree, they are the cutest animal on earth. Essential for the environment as well. Now I'm thinking - maybe I should haul my van up to Alaska. Please come and visit the Vancouver Aquarium on your way down and see our Marine Mammal Rescue (d) otters! Quatse, Joey, Katmai, Tazlina, Hardy, Rialto, Kunik and Mak.
