There is a park west of me I frequent, which has wonderful hiking trails. And, yes, most of the time I hike alone! There have only ever been a few times I have felt uncomfortable on those trails. Like you, I listen to that shift in energy and turned my butt around! Most of the time, there are no bears here in my area, thankfully! However, I'd be more afraid of a mountain lion! I admire your love of cooking and preparing food. I have a hard time doing all those things just for me. And, I don't like to peel and chop, so there's that LOL. I completely understand the need for warm boots. I have a terrible time keeping my toes warm in the winter. Buying warm boots isn't a treat; it's a necessity!!! I think you made the right decision with the painting. Your place is lovely just like it is! And, even if the picture goes home with someone else, there is ALWAYS another picture! Thrift stores are loaded with them. Have a blessed day, Kate! 😊

I am right there with you on the need to put practicality first. I bought a house in August and have discovered "move-in ready" actually meant "so many hidden problems you will spend a zillion dollars you don't have making it habitable." I was so excited as a first-time home buyer to do all the things to make it the perfect cottage -- painting, thrifting, treating myself to a brand-new brass bed and new mattress after a lifetime of second-hand and "making it last" -- and all I have spent my time, money and energy on have been structural problems and mold remediation. We still haven't moved in yet because every time we open a wall or shore up the foundation, we find another thing that needs to be done. We're hoping to be able to move in January, but all Santa is bringing this year is hopefully an electrician to fix the outlets in the kitchen so I don't plug in a toaster and become toast myself. I feel you, girl. I see you.🏠🏠🏠🏠🏠🏠

@wendyreynolds8940 - why didn’t you get an inspection?
@wendyreynolds89407 ай бұрын
@@AngelaPickles1929 I did--the first one was with an inspector who should have his license revoked--but we didn't know that at the time. It wasn't until after we bought the house that we realized we hadn't been given the full picture. That's when we had a second inspection by a different inspector, who revealed so much more that we should have been told in the first one. Lesson learned? Not all inspectors are competent. You don't want a doctor who graduated at the bottom of her class in med school--and you don't want an inspector referred by your realtor. Ever.

Oh goodness, practical items - especially things to get you through winter - far outweigh the painting, as lovely as it is. I hope we didn't put undue pressure on you. If you're near that store thru the holidays, maybe pop in to see if they're running a sale? And perhaps a layaway plan? 🤞 I think your advice about solo hiking is spot on. Having an air of calm self-confidence is noticed by others, and someone looking for a victim won't run that risk. I've had the same astonished reactions to driving places by myself; i.e., NYS to Arizona this time last year. I adore road trips, and that one has even more meaning now because my dear friend who I visited passed away three months ago. I'm beyond grateful that I went. And I feel it's much scarier to think about not having those experiences and connections than it is to do them by oneself.💞 I'd never heard of fire cider but you now have me very curious! 😋 Thank you for sharing another slice of your life with us. Wishing you and you little guy a lovely weekend. 😍

I’m a big believer in listening to my gut reactions, if something doesn’t feel right I simply don’t do it. On a couple of occasions during the years I’ve over ridden a “don’t do it” feeling because it’s been something I really wanted to do and it’s backfired on me so I’d never do that now. The woods near your house are lovely for an autumn walk and it’s lovely to see you as usual 😊💛🌹

Oh gosh, $125- $150 IS ALOT of money for anyone, so don't at all feel bad or the need to explain. I didn't realize it was an antique store, I thought it was a thrift store and that the painting was about 5 - 15 dollars and the main issue was about not having the space to hang it! Oh dear. Usually people will barter with you - if you do want it and it's still there you could offer what you could afford and if that's $25 or $50 then so be it. They will take the offer or leave it but you should have a bottom line of what you will pay. And if you keep going in and it's still there..make your same offer again. The antique dealer probably got it for next to nothing and will be happy to move her merchandise rather than hold onto it. 'Little Poet's' (youtube) experience of buying a painting in an antique store where she moved to. She could not afford to pay what was being asked and as she shopped, the man kept reducing the price as she had told him..I only have ex amount in my wallet, which was true...he gave it to her for next to nothing and she walked out with the painting! Thank you for sharing your experiences in the woods and on your run. Glad those are behind you and you never have to encounter anything like them again. Praise God that woman was there to pick you up - she may even have been an angel on assignment! Love you explaining what all the foods and herbs do for us...I am a Virgo earth girl so love all things nature and natural medicines. The snow falling in big fat snowflakes looked really beautiful. Love your videos. Blessings from Canada's west coast!

I just have to say blessings to you. I love when people carve out their own path and find their own happiness like this - appreciating all the beauty that is around us, finding much in what some people call little (but I don't), and living in a state of thankfulness, doing it your own way. Everything is just lovely and, of course, a loving pet is the icing on the cake.

Walking in nature is therapy for the mind and soul. No distractions . At that moment in time, you are one with the universe! But I would never, ever walk in the woods alone. The whole time you were talking, I was scanning the background for movement , or a person. I would always feel like someone is watching. Like you said ... waiting for someone to walk up behind you! It is my gut feeling. As for the painting... ask if the seller would take less. Many times they will... especially if it's been sitting for a while. It costs nothing to ask. Or , if you can make payments. Sometimes the heart just wants what the heart wants.

Was curious to see if you got the painting, but considering the price and that it won't keep your feet warm, I think the boots were the smart choice. If it's meant to be, it'll still be there and maybe marked down a little. It's good to trust your gut and I don't walk in the woods without my Siberian husky and even so always, carry pepper spray. And you know every once in a while she'll stop, stare at nothing, and decide we should turn around so I listen to her gut feelings too! Kate, it's so interesting to hear you comment on the shapes of the trees. I always love to see their silhouettes in winter! Luckily for us where I am in Canada there is usually snow, which is also really beautiful, especially those days when a thick fluffy snow has fallen, and there is no wind, and the world turns into a soft and silent winter wonderland! This from somebody who grew up in Jamaica! But I think there is no more beautiful scene than one of those still, beautiful monochromatic winter days. Your painting of beans on your seed packet was so pretty! May winter be kind to you and Charlie down there in the Hudson Valley.

Glad you listen to your gut I wish more people did that ( how often does some poor girl get attacked walking in the dark at 2am!! And you ask yourself why the heck she was out there in the first place, sadly it happens too often, in Oz anyway, they might be walking on the beach or whatever...please be careful ladies..listen to Kates gut and at least carry a personal protection alarm you can buy them really cheaply online these days) . Cant buy bear spray in Oz and I believe pepper spray is illegal but those alarms at least make a lot of noise..or dont go out by yourself at night, nor as Kate also said "never get into a car even if driven by a women..yes it could be a setup". Thankyou Kate.🙏cheers from Western Australia 🦘🦘...that said, I am 70 years old and have never lived by myself only for a few weeks. I love my space during the day but could never live alone (have you noticed you never hear a house creak during the day..I dont like the dark).. I had to get a lock on my bedroom door and get back to base security in my house when I separated - then I was OK..all kudos to those like Kate who can do it.👍🙂

You talked about your green beans, if I may suggest you try to get your hands on some greasy bean seeds. They are my favorite! They are an old heirloom variety that is from the mountains of the Carolinas. The best flavor. I grew up eating them, and still grow them. You can freeze some of the shelled beans for future growing. I have some that I've had for 30 years in some pill bottles. I keep them in my freezer and they grow. I'm sure you could dry them as well, but the freezer has been working, so, if it ain't broke...

Thanks for this video! I loved your thought about dangerous people not wanting to climb a mountain! 😆 It is unfortunate to have to be careful about this as another women.

It does stink to have to think about it : ( But haha ... it's my motivation to choose harder hikes!! I tell myself they might be safer! Have a wonderful weekend!!!!❤❤❤

In the comment section on your previous video, I encouraged you to buy the painting. I do love the painting, but I did not realize it was at that price. I 💯 agree that you need to put your necessities first! I am on a thrifting budget closer to $5 or less per item.

Recently I was listening to a guided meditation, and they said something like"imagine you are in a place you feel safe, like the woods." and I burst out laughing! When have I ever felt safe in the woods? I guess I'm more of a wild shoreline type of walker!😂❤

Goodness me there are some scaremongers who need to cut themselves off from the late night crime dramas! Enjoy your hikes sweet Kate and carry on trusting your intuition. I had not heard of fire cider but I will make one now I know. I feel like I need a wellness potion for sure. Enjoy your new boots etc.

I can't wait to make that healthy concoction you made & add it to salad dressing. I also walk in a nature park & love it. No bears though, mainly snakes & possible alligators. Lots of beautiful birds. It is in South Florida.

Fear is a magnet. Being aware, confident and prepared is a protective shield in ways. That old saying, Be careful what you wish for " applies to folks who live in fear. The Law of Attraction. Good on you Kate for your wisdom and awareness... a path to freedom.

I love Fire Cider. This year since I am not working (my choice). I will be using it as my Christmas gifts. I also made blackberry jam. then some nectarine jam and also some peach jam. and some other things I think I will mix up some teas also. Also with my fire cider I use it for salad dressings. I also mix with ketchup and it makes a really nice spicy dip for shrimp. Also Rosemary Gladstar, has book of recipes that she has done with a lot of herbalists. It is called hmm Fire Cider it is the best book ever. 1 of the herbalists lives about 20 miles from me in the Applegate Valley and she has 3 recipes in it. I ran into her at the Medford CoOp and just happened to have it in my bike basket and she signed it for me. Yes one of those Oregon girls I bike it every where. Any way I got sidetracked I had to use powdered turmeric this year. Because at the CoOp they did not have any fresh. I found out we get ours from Hawaii and they cannot buy any for at least the month of November. Guess that is when they are resting the farms. Hmm oh and I dry out all of the ingredients and make salt out of it. That is great with grilling. Also do not be afraid to go anywhere by yourself. Just walk tall and most people will leave you be. Also you are correct use your gut instincts it's done well for you so far. Have a happy Thanksgiving weekend. We are still raking leaves out here.
