Great method. I pin my scarf joints with a 1/4 dowl. Cutting head shape before gluing is a lesson i learned once, lol.

I used to use stop blocks to glue up the scarf joint, worked great...but now I use 2 or 3 toothpicks as tiny dowels to keep the pieces from moving... I made a large jig like your scarf joint jig (minus the angle) but I use mine for fret slot cutting and carving the neck... I have an adjustable section to accommodate the angled headstock for clamping...

I tried something like that with two small tacks nailed in, then clipped short. If I could figure out how to hide the toothpick dowels, I would try that again. I will have to make a section for my jig to have a spot to clamp the headstock down for carving the neck. Thanks. You have given me some ideas! Thanks for watching! Cheers!
