nothing compared to my fail... about 30 years ago my brother brought me to a ski resort in germany. I was 16, and never skied before. And instead of going up with me on such a lift, he "gave" me a over 40 year old friend of his who never stood on skiers before, too, as a companion.... so we 2 noobs stood there side by side and waited for those awful hooks.... the first one came, we let him pass... the second one came, let him pass.... It was only a huge crowd waiting behind us.... so, no pressure. 3rd one came, we grabbed for it, couldn't sort out properly what to do with it, let him go. so, some hooks later, we finally had one.... our performance mus have been ridiculous, and after a few meters, the skiers of my lift compagnion crossed themselves, and with an elegent heap, he flew out to the left (I was on the right side). Because of that, there was a imminent move to the other side, because the counterweight of the compagnion was missing so abruptly. I couldn't egalize that (remember, also 1st time on skiers, no training, no clue, nothing). I immediately sat down on my butt by accident. Of course, I flew out.... IF ONLY IT WOULD HAVE BEEN THAT EASY!!! My left ski was tangled up in that hook now, and that darn thing pulled me up that steep first part of that hill.... and the attachment of the ski did not open at all (don't know the word for skibindung). After some meters, it opened finally....the hook swung wildly froom side to side will rolling up himself. On its way, he passed a pole.from the lift and wrapped around that pole, like a skilled pirate would have thrown that hook, to climb up somewhere.... That hook was fixed there... but the lift was still moving. No one of those morons stopped it.... The rope of that hook rolled down again til it was completely unrolled, it tried to stretch a bit. the lift shook a bit, and it snapped with a loud noise.... After that, they stopped it....GREAT..... So, I destroyed a skilift.... yay.... It takes a long time to read that... but believe me, from start to end this nightmare took at least that enourmous time :D Sorry for that awful English.

Not really lol I went for my forst time yesterday. I went alone on my own. I waited until I saw 2-3 snowboarders use it before going. Told the lady "firt time here" she stopped the machine, put the tbar where it should be and euggested I keep some weight on my backfoot on the board. I made it to the top. She stopped it the second time as well to make sure im comfortable with it and the 3rd and following time I told her not to stop it. If the following tbar is close and u think u wont have time to position yourself allinged with the slope, just tell them ull take the next one. It allowed plenty of time to grab the next one and put it between the legs. Hats off the the lady operating the tbar when I got there. She basically takes it and literally will put it between your leg if you dont grab it quick. All you gotta do is position yourself :D now today is the following day and I'm sore as fuck EVERYWHERE. But that has nothing to do with the tbar hahahaha

Best way to use these on a snowboard is to put it in the small of your back or under your butt while standing with both feet on the board and lean back into it. Then you have to play it cool while riding up not trying to steer at all and letting your board wobble underneath you, it is disconcerting but typically rights itself due to the shape of the board and how eventually an edge will start dragging. Trying to steer will cause you to fall.
