I didn't understand why evocative but indeed the sound of the piece is truly evocative, now I understand.

Think Spanish folk music and dance. Some of scarlatti’s musical inspirations share the same roots as what would later become flamenco. Guitars and castanets!

Everything is evocative if you think hard enough about it.

Just had this in a listening exam today, and it really helped me fall in love ith this piece. The recording they chose was awful though.

I was just practicing Scarlatti's d minor sonata in 6/8 time. This K.433 is perfect for piano! I would love to learn it on harpsichord first then play it forte on the piano. I would probably add pedal....🎹👞.

You seem like a cool Scarlatti geek which is awesome. But i cant get how you always manage to use the worst possible sheet which you can find on the net… it is just soo funny hahaha

It's the Longo edition?
@aronlescsinszky1127
@aronlescsinszky1127 Жыл бұрын
No thats not what i meant. I said is that you dont use the right sheet editions. The pedal markings are completly false, the crescendo markings are not by the composer. All in all: it is not urtext, but edited sheet. And when talking about Scarlatti, the great edition (urtext) is the key. Fortunately you can find it on the internet;)

Not sure about that. But im sure its more amateur… like reading a cheap translation of a foreign poem. I honestly like your channel and thats why i would like to point that out. It would be better!

@@sven-sandershestakov5201 Absolutely. I think the original commenter should have a listen to the choral 4th movement of Bach's BWV 131 cantata if they want to hear some *real* stunning baroque dissonance.

Evocative? Of what? What does it evoke to you? (I think you might mean provocative).

It's a fanfare followed by a dance, that's pretty evocative if you ask me. You can look at the videos on my channel. When I don't give these type of titles, nobody watches.
@misterchrissy

I’d assume evocative of Spanish and Portuguese folk music. Scarlatti was a teacher to the queen of Spain and spent most of his life there. Some of 555 sonatas have distinct rhythms, figurations and imitations of guitars, and harmonies that are very evocative of Spanish folk dance music.
