They look healthy and well taken care of. One of the biggest joys ever for me was filming them living wild in outback South Australia in 2009.

That would have been amazing to see! I have been out camping looking for them a few times but never been that lucky...nor had a long range camera!

@@birdmandad6426 Beautiful memories for me for sure. Hiking in wilderness mallee scrub and out of nowhere a beautiful male Scarlet was in a tree singing this beautiful song kind of like a very loud slow but clear finch. Fortunately I filmed it all with a 600 mm video camera. Did you know that when they are too hot they simply burrow down into the sand where its cooler with just their backs and heads above the dirt? I filmed that as well. I literally spent 4 hours with that bird filming and it was about 40C. Good thing I am heat tolerant LOL. I so love Aus and lead parrot tours now there. Last tour was in 2019. 9 clients from North America. Only 16 days but we were fortunate and saw 28 species of parrots. The only Neophemas we encountered on that one was Turquoise Parrots. To date I have filmed all 6 Neophemas. Just a wonderful group for sure.

Yes I know they burrow down into sand to keep cool. It is so hot here nowdays...this past summer was over 50 degrees in many inland places. I am sure many mallee birds died from heat stroke. Upside is the rains have hit big time in any inland parts...so will be a breeding bonanza. So hope the narethas have a bonza breeding season...been drought for 4+ years

Interesting Vlogs so glad you find them beautiful. the Scarlet is a very sweet parrot kept by people worldwide. They once were flying wild around the place in which i live - been long gone now - but would like to see a world where they still could be seen out and about in huge numbers. For the time being just get to love them in my backyard.

I just got a handsome normal male and a blue female. If they successfully breed, what mutation will the babies be?
@birdmandad64269 ай бұрын
What type of blue is the female? Pure white front blue? Or does it have par blue or something else in its genetics? Same for male? I have purchased many supposed "pure normal " scarlet chested parrots from people only to find babies in the nest box 2 or 3 years later that have colours that shouldn't have been produced from pure birds
