In this video I try out the brand new 3rd gen Focusrite Scarlett interface. I’m testing out the Scarlett 2i2 audio interface and let you hear spoken word, vocals, and also talk about the new features, feel, and of course, latency. Direct monitoring is a great solution to the latency issue and I talk a little about that as well. These are the latest Scarlett 2i2 interface - 3rd generation, brand new! And these are some of the best audio interfaces out there and the best selling. Gotta check it out!

I just bought one of these. Love it. It is super clean. Very useful for what I do. I use it for smaller projects. I do have a lot of hardware synths and have them plugged in to my main interface which is a Presonous Fire Studio project which is a great interface too. But the two interfaces together are great. My large capsule condenser mics are the MXL V67G. I have two of those. I also have a vintage Shure Unidyne 55s microphone. It is super old but sounds amazing, especially through my 2i2.

I couldn't hear much difference. Maybe a little less treble with air. But no particular improvement to my ears.
@darymetal
@darymetal 5 жыл бұрын
Sanjay C Rossini Young It might just be personal preference, but it feels like Air widens the sound stage in a way. On the vocal part, at the start where it's on the lower vocal range, i feel like it makes a very big difference, it's less appreciable when it goes in the higher vocal range. Idk, it feels like I'm actually listening to someone singing in front of me with "naked" voice, instead of listening his/her voice through speakers. I heard some other tests, and i kinda feel like it's pretty trivial for talking/podcasting, but pretty neat for instruments, and very noticeable for vocals, at least that's my opinion. It might even be situational depending on the vocal tone, i'd like to also hear female singers through air.
@darymetal
@darymetal 5 жыл бұрын
@@SanjayC Are you by any chance planning to make a Presonus Studio 24c Vs Scarlett? I personally feel like it's the number 1 contender to the Scarlett right now, and it's mainly the other interface that i was considering, along with the Scarlett. I'm torn because on one side the Scarlett seems to have a much better design and construction feel, but the Presonus comes with Studio One Prime, which from what i heard is significantly better than Ableton Lite, especially since it's not a Lite version, just the basic one of the Studio One lineup. Then again i have never used either of these Daws so....talk about making the decision hard ahahhahaha

Which one should I buy? Solo or 2i2. I am planning to record songs using a guitar. I will be singing and playing the guitar simultaneously.
@digitalmarketinghumans
@digitalmarketinghumans 4 жыл бұрын
This is all assuming you're using microphones. If using solo- you'll have to switch back and forth between the two (guitar and vocal) and or record one at a time. If using 2i2, you can record it at the same time. If using electric guitar, I believe there's a DI where you can hook up the instrument cable and play guitar + vocals with your other input. This is with the Scarlett solo. What I do usually is just record with one mic and have that condenser mic close to where it can pick up vocals + guitar at the same time. Happy recording!

I’m very new to music production and just recently bought a focusrite 2i2 third gen audio interface to record my hardware synths into a daw. I use MPC 2.0 as my primary daw and I’m having trouble with the audio playback. I setup my focusrite properly (registration, installing drivers) but whenever I set my audio to “Focusrite USB Audio” in MPC (daw), I don’t hear anything. For context, I have connected my korg volca bass (synthesizer) as the first input on the front (1/4 to 1/8 TRS) of 2i2 and on the back I have the USB connection to my laptop. So overall, I have 2 connections in the audio interface. Can anyone please help me out with this? I couldn’t find any instructions online. Thanks :)

Most of the included sounds in Live are geared towards EDM producers. BUT, you can always add third-party plugins and drums etc, to get that acoustic sound. A MacBook with an i5 and 16GB Ram is good enough to start. I like a bigger SSD because I have a lot of plugins. But it’s not needed. 512GB SSD is usually good for most people.

Do you get enough volume in 250ohm headphones? As far as I know, this interface supports max of 200ohm.
@SanjayC

The volume was loud enough for me. In fact Focusrite pushes more volume than other interfaces in this price range.

Just getting into this world of audio interface. My old windows XP desktop computer just crashed with an awesome version of Cakewalk from early 2000s. It will not even run on current operating systems. I run two keyboards and one vocal mic that requires phantom power. I am guessing I don't need to get the 4i4 because I have all my keyboards and vocal plugged into my 8 channel mixer/amp and I can simply run a single line out to the interface? I want individual manual high/mid/low control of each keyboard and my vocals. I also play karaoke songs off my Iphone thru another channel on my mixer and play keyboards to accompany the karoake music. Thanks for the great tutorials.
