Agreed, why need the recognition? Don't understand these Chinese educationists who keep pushing for it .. can they do a survey with Chinese Malaysians about this? They don't represent us.

砂拉越早巳承认独中,畢業生可上砂政府大学,也可上澳洲在砂的大学比如 Swinburne and Curtin University。每年砂政府拨款一千万给14间独中,也土拨款一千二百万给华小
This issue of UEC can never be resolved if the dominant race does not understand that recognising it does not erode their rights. The government must explain. Sarawak is a good example where UEC is recognised. In the early days, we only had local government run universities. But now, there are private and overseas universities who have set up branches in Malaysia. There are also the twinning programs. So much to choose. They don't see that our country is losing human talent and brain drain and the Education Minister is doing nothing about it. My eldest son did his SPM and thereafter an American Degree 2+2 Program. Just after graduation he was offered a job in Singapore. As for my youngest son, after his primary education in a government school, I sent him to a homeschooling centre for 4 years to prepare for his IGCSE exams. At that time, our education system was going back and forth about the teaching of Maths and Science. I didn't want him to be caught in the system. Today, there is no more UPSR and PMR. With his good IGCSE results, he received a 100% fee waiver on his first year college fees. After 2 years, he is now in the US to complete his degree. In conclusion, it is our country's loss. We, on the other hand can find other ways to give our children a good education.
