Scary Fast Drift Trike and How it Was Built

Today we hit the dunes with Steve who built a KTM 300 powered drift tike. Sub for more crazy builds and races / @grindhardplumbingco
We rode around the beach and interviewed Steve on how he built the beautiful contraption.
While we were on the beach Steve picked up a race with a screaming fast Yamaha YZX 1000R side by side.
This is the coolest trike i've ever seen and we are so thankful to Steve for showing such an amazing place and letting us take it for a spin. The KTM 300 2 stroke is the perfect powerhouse for this build!

Of all the motorized trike designs, this is the exact style I'd envisaged but not yet seen executed SO WELL. With the motor as a crotch rocket, with the frame over top, the cylindrical fuel on the back and suspension forks on the front with the big tyre, it's perfect. I feel this is the top end of a home brew and anything else just fails to match aesthetically. all the rear mount motors with wide frames and wide set footrests pale in comparison, no matter how polished. You guys have made my dream come true and though I no longer have the space/environment to build my own i've found satisfaction watching this video. Thanks lads

Don't call me a hypocrite, but I build predator engines on my channel haha. I have a 212 go kart that goes 50mph. 212cc Aint got nothing on a two stroke, wether it be an 85, 125 or 300 lol. Even if you dump 1000's of dollars in them, it still wont beat a properly geared two stroke

Well since its the front half of motorcycle with a VIN number, and it will have lights and turn signals, thats about all you really need for most states to register it as a motorcycle.

Nice build. Tillamook is my home town and Sand lake was our hangout. You build from the brain just like I do. If the beach wasn't the only flat area I'd take the jetkart out there on one of our weekend trips.

Maybe you could build like a "stinger" wheelie bar to mount the tail lights a bit higher and put a plate on it. That way they're more at eye-ish level.

I put thumb throttle on several dirt bikes i have owned over the years and love it. Go from 0 to full throttle quick!! Not so good for Enduro trail ridding. Would make my thumb cramp. If you do get one make sure you can ajust the thumb part or you won't be able to get it in a good position so your thumb won't cramp as fast

Thumb throttle is better for full throttle applications and racing small cc bikes. But also grip throttle can be dangerous in off balance situations like that weird seat that let's you bounce around. 😳

I'm more interested in the pink Barbie car at 1.10 lol I wana see that thing go down the track. The reason you have no steering t speed is because the rake looks wrong, you have more of a chopper style angle on the front forks, if you have ever rode a chop you will know they aint great at turning at all, reduce the rake by a few degrees and the steering will be amazing. 1 easy way to accomplish this would be to just put bigger wheels on the rear, change the gearing and it will still rip like it does on the small wheels but handle like its on rails

I live right on the beach in Ocean Shores wa. If they saw you doing that here you'd get arrested. LOL. Me and my dad take the dune buggy down there and we always get called in by some idiot with a cell phone and all were doing is going down the beach just like the cares and trucks down there. I love this place in Oregon. I'm only 160 miles from the dunes. Hopefully see you there.

You needed tires with more paddles on them, because the ones you were using just wasn't aggressive enough, meaning it just didn't have enough to grab and take off fast! But I'd really love to have that!😎👍
