So many books I want to read now. I have read (eyeballs) the Newfeed Trilogy, and have read (ears) NOS4A2 thanks to your previous recommendation. But all the others are new. That something followed them novel is one I really want to read. I came close to dying this winter when I went through a crack in the lake ice with my backpack and gear and couldn’t get out. After struggling for several minutes I thought this was how I died. But by a bit of lucky (or divine) inspiration I figured out a way to get out. For the next few days though I felt like something had followed me home from that black crack in the lake. The feeling was strong enough I didn’t go outside at night for my usual walks or winter bike rides. I’m ok now but I bet that book will give me deliciously creepy vibes because of my experience. Oh, I also woke up in the night that week feeling like I was suffocating and there was something black near me. Sigh. The perils of an overactive imagination. But I think I could use that experience to write a short story-the lake even has spooky legends going back thousands of years according to the Ojibway/Cree people in the area.

My favorite audiobook ever is World War Z. The huge cast narrating are hard to beat: Alan Alda, John Turturro, Rob Reiner, Mark Hamill, Alfred Molina, Simon Pegg, Henry Rollins, Martin Scorsese among many others.

Last week I received a notification fromy library saying that the audiobook And the Trees Crept In was available, and it took me same time to remember why I had ask for this book. But as soon as I start listening I concluded "it must have been from Rachel's audiobook recommendation ". It really is a great production! Very entertaining.

It's definitely quite the production!

I always recommend the NOS4A2 audiobook! Mulgrew really made it for me. I don’t think I’d have been as impressed just reading it myself.

I've read "Mind of winter" and "Head full of ghosts" before I've started listening to audiobooks, I did listen to Nos4a2 though. You're right narration was fantastic, I listened to "Fireman" afterwards because she also narrated it, and it was Joe Hill. Unfortunately I found this book disapointing story vise. It's not horror but more post-apocaliptic novel with the deadly virus, there were interesting parts but it was overstretched and had much to many miraculous rescues happening.
@TheShadesofOrange2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I love Mulgrews narration but I was so disappointed by Fireman

I just started the audiobook of Thomas Olde Heuvelt’s “Hex” and I might tap out already. The narrator’s Mom and teens voice impressions sound like Bruce McCulloch of Kids in the Hall doing his various “kid and lady voices.” Are there other versions? This guy bugs me.
@TheShadesofOrange2 жыл бұрын
I love Hex... but oh man I can't do that audiobook. I've tried it twice... it's rough
@stevenvenn2 жыл бұрын
@@TheShadesofOrange It gets worse when the real estate buyers are voiced by the same guy - yet more Bruce-sounding characters! I think I want to go read the book and formulate their character voices in my head. The main narrator also sounds like William S. Burroughs drank too many coffees, really “announcer-y” as well in his tone (as someone who works in radio I’m especially sensitive to certain voices that sound “put on”). Hard pass! Sorry, TOH! Reading your book instead!
