Hi ! As a jazz musician, maybe you would be interested in reacting to latest Bowie songs : he recorded his last album Blackstar with a Jazz band, and jazz influence is all over the place, reinterpreted of course through his own musical vision. I'd suggest : "Blackstar" (the title track), "Sue (or in a season of crime)" (not the album version if you can, but the original one), and "Girl loves me". Also "A small plot of land" and "Jump they say" from previous albums would be interesting...

Hi Matt, it's rather wonderful to hear a commentary on one of David's more obscure songs. It's a fav of mine, hence why I've discovered your video. I'd like your opinion on the Bowie song "Lady Grinning Soul" if possible - there's loads of jazz in there and it's one hell of a tune. Dru.

I like the fact you choose some unconventional Bowie songs to react to. You should try "I Am With Name" and "Subterraneans".

This is a song that's generally assumed to be about David's ex-wife Angie. She helped him out with a lot of conceptual and fashion-related ideas in his early career, and David got her out of her shell and into the crazy rockstar lifestyle, then both got addicted to drugs. This song was somewhat of a prototype for the industrial rock genre of music. David was always ahead of the curve, naturally. In the mid-'90s, he revisited this style and did a tour with Nine Inch Nails. It was an extravaganza of sorts. The lead guitarist here was Robert Fripp from the band King Crimson. Carlos Alomar on rhythm guitar. Beautiful instrumentation. I'm glad you enjoy it! Keep up the great work! 🙂

@@mattcriscuolo1541 I left these 5 at the bottom of my Golden Years comment so they wouldn't get in the way of the info: Who Can I Be Now? Sons of the Silent Age Teenage Wildlife Letter to Hermione As the World Falls Down Absolutely incredible. These are some seriously emotional tracks. Out of 400, I'd say the ones that move me the most.

Nice reaction, as a jazz musician I kind thought you'd enjoy the guitar work. For some angular rock with some wild saxophone, I would you request that you react to the band MX-80 Sound; the song is "Fender Bender" from the album "Out Of The Tunnel" (1980). Hope you give it a spin.

Bowie was going through a divorce with his first wife Angela around the time this was written, and I've always assumed she is the subject of the song.

Bowie recorded Fripp on guitar and then ran it backwards. Fripp said "it sounds like the theory of relativity on guitar".
