I appreciate you saying that! I was so happy to hit 500 subs recently. Hopefully, the channel will keep growing! 😊

Lol, this happened to us whilst diving the Rozi in Gozo, still have the video footage of it, and yes they could see our bubbles...

No way! I hope no one in your buddy team was harmed. Were there any repercussions to the boat that dropped anchor on you, or did they get away?
@MrIanspeedАй бұрын
@@narkedtom Nobody harmed, but I did try and unscrew the pin from the eye, but he was travelling to fast to really hang on, plus I had an UW Video housing, it was 2002, and the video housing was HUGE!!!. No, no repercussions for the boat. Trying to trawl for it with the anchor was stupid, it stands out a mile on a depth sounder, Captain Bellend strikes again!! 🤣

@@MrIanspeed I'm glad no one was harmed, but that's very frustrating about there being no repercussions for the boat. Cue the Jesse Pinkman meme: "HE CAN'T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH IT" 😂

This happened to me once. The chain hit my head, and the anchor fell in front of me like just 1 meter away. But i was diving much much deeper in choppy water, so the boat would have struggled to see my bubbles. It's wild to drop an anchor at this site.
@narkedtomАй бұрын
That's wild! I hope you weren't hurt too badly. As those chains have some serious weight behind them. Even if you were deep & in choppy conditions, there's no reason for boats to be dropping anchor on diving sites. And I agree, the clip here being so shallow and good vis makes it hard to believe the boat didn't see them - major negligence.
@MegaEpicLlamaАй бұрын
@@narkedtom it didn't hurt at all. It wasn't a huge chain, and I assume the drag of the water evened out the impact. I just it bounce off my head.

@@MegaEpicLlama Oh that's fortunate. Some of these boats have huge chains, so I was picturing one of them instead 😅

who anchors in rocks hahah that skipper hates themselves

wow. I've never seen anything like that. (Only ever seen dropped weights / weight pouches / flashlights / other smallish items). I don't know if I would have been able to stop myself having a massive go at the skipper/captain of the boat above.... (possible use of prohibited words lol). Because that area is a habitat in which anchoring is forbidden, and also because this could have ended up so much worse for the divers. Even though the boat hightailed it so quickly afterward, I would definitely have reported the vessel and incident to the relevant authorities. (Just in case they return, as the captain/crew need to learn to be aware of what's below them). Great vid again Tom (thanks).

It's the first time I've seen it happen & while divers were present. Unfortunately, I've been to places where boats have dropped on dive sites before. It's especially devasting when it's on delicate reefs, and you can see the destruction left behind. And I 100% agree with you about trying to go after them and reporting them to authorities. However, I've not seen these situations be very successful, and no action is being taken against the boats & their crew - it's very frustrating. But hopefully covering content like this helps raise awareness of this issue and educates boat captains if they happen upon it.

Naked Tom?

Haha no, it's "N-A-R-K-E-D" Tom, as in the slang for 'gas narcosis'. I was only 'naked' Tom on my 100th dive 😂
