i've just finished watching the video, and it seems like Mikoto is in a coma and is questioning whether she should go, or wake up. she's keeps on fighting to find a reason to continue because she keeps on remembering her troubled past and she doesn't want to go back there anymore. but then she decides that she'll give it another go and try to move on with her life because, as she said, she knows that someone will be out there for her. hence why we see her on the hospital bed at the very end. her left arm is also bandaged throughout the whole video too!

I know it's a late reply, but I really like your interpretation. My mind always goes to a dark place, so I was reading into the lyrics as being about some kind of trauma or PTSD, which the singer deciding to attempt suicide in the hope that they'd meet someone in the afterlife, when there were people in the real world waiting all along who sent them messages in the hospital. The coma is so much less sad.

I have enjoyed your covers since I found your version of Transient Apple Salesgirl, and any covers you did from then on was my go-to for a new song pick. Though I had to admit flower's Close to You is my all-time favorite even now. Many kudos to you for bringing the song AND character to life. I love this song because it is characteristic of a cillia/kyaami song: the vocals can be passed off as a human's with the way how it was tuned. When this song came out three years ago, I posted about how my heart was breaking, crying out from past trauma preventing me from pursuing my dreams as a voice actress. Now healing and diagnosed with VCD (vocal chord dysfunction) I'm unable to sing the transliterated vocaloid songs I've been writing for almost a year. I was so moved by this song again having it in my feed that I felt called to write and post my singable lyrics with my incorporated story in it (shadows I'd seen while hallucinating as my first manic episode happened, about 3 years ago the week before covid hit). Anyway, I rarely post my interpretations of songs online anymore and instead write songs. Here's my interpretation of this wonderful masterpiece through my eyes and heart and ears. I just realized something: So, during AZ's stunning guitar solo, a flying spark can be seen. A similar flying spark shows up in the PV for "The Earth's Final Confession", which happens to be the demo song of Samura Tomi, Cillia's UTAU voicebank. Therefore, I feel as this song can be interpreted as being in two ways: either as being from the perspective of Mikoto or Tomi (Mikoto could be singing from not only their own point of view, but also from Tomi's, which makes even more sense when you realize that both have red eyes, like if they were looking at the world through the same pair). It fits Tomi very well, because if you think about it, she is pretty much on life support in some dark corner of Kyaami's old computer, minutes away from dying. Unless Kyaa decides to use her UTAU again, it's almost dead. Also, while I'm on the topic of Tomi, as much as I want this to happen, I don't think Cillia will EVER update her. Here are some things to prove it. 1. Tomi was a commercial failure. As heartbreaking as it is to say for me since she's my favourite UTAU of all time, someone just HAD to say it and I decided to be that person. Let's face it: not many people downloaded her VB and not much stuff was done with her. Only a few covers, and most of them (excluding the ones that Kyaa made since the first actual CV VB of Tomi was made in 2010 and was never released, but there are covers with it, done obviously by Kyaami herself) were made in 2012 or 2013. In later years, her popularity decreased DRASTICALLY. In the end, she was only remembered by Cillia's old fans or the newer ones who learned about her UTAU somewhere. While it partially WOULD be a good move for Cills to update her VB now, while her popularity as a producer is SOARING, there are other cons to this idea. 2. Cillia has moved away from UTAU completely, with her last UTAU-related work released that I know of being a remake of her 2012 -ERROR cover with Ritsu, made in 2018. She now works purely with Vocaloid, including her originals and collab work. 3. Kyaami's voice is VERY low nowadays, despite being beautiful nonetheless. I'm afraid that trying to hit notes that she could as a 14- or 16-year-old now would be straight up PAINFUL (reminder: as of 27th of July, 2020, she is 24). But if she can still do it without wrecking her vocal chords completely, then mad props to her. 4. She is currently in college and has a tight schedule, considering that she has to balance her lectures, side job (as she probably has one, she was a part-timer back in 2016, according to the description of her "Near" cover), Vocaloid-related work such as tuning for Natsushiro Takaaki (if their collaboration is still ongoing) and other producers who commision her to tune for them, covers and her own originals, and her private life. Trying to fit making an UTAU in there would just be stressful for her. And we don't want her to feel stressed, now do we? 5. Let's face it: even if Tomi DID get updated in the end, would people still use her? While her VB is already of very high quality for a VCV (and just think about how great it would be if it was made NOW, it would make Gahata Meiji and her creator's other UTAUs, Yamine Renri, Mawarine Shuu and Kohaku Merry bite the dust), she would still be heavily overshadowed by Teto, Ritsu, Tei and most other Vipperloid UTAU VBs, as well as other more popular ones and would eventually fade into oblivion once again. But for now, Tomi is considered half dead. May she rest peacefully until someone resurrects her.

I'm glad that I listened past the intro. I wasn't into the sad piano, but the rest of the song is such a powerful technoesque ballad of sorts. Mikoto finding her hope at the end, and getting to see her at the hospital with notes from all her friends, getting the help she needed from all of this; all of it made me tear up. I was so happy for her!! I L O V E the parts of the movie where she's animated to speak/sing to the camera. I love animations like that in videos. I have no idea why im so addicted to that, but it's so aesthetic.
