Short summary depicting portions of the images related to Santa Cruz County edited from the sixteen 16mm reels of film shot by Hart L. Weaver (co-founder of the St. Francis Yacht Club) between 1929 and 1930. These reels were discovered in a home being demolished in Seabright, Santa Cruz, CA, circa 2001. They were donated for digitization to the California Pioneers by Daniel Model, a Santa Cruz historian, who received them from the contractor who had originally salvaged them.
Note the beautiful Hotel Capitola located at the far end of the beach as seen at the 6:00 mark. This nostalgic landmark will tragically be destroyed by fire on December 16, 1929, just six months after these scenes were taken.
