What are the possible changes that could happen in the course of the year? 1. Several nations are having their elections in the course of the year? How could the new leadership affect your business? 2. In the organization you work, what changes could affect your placement in the organization? What glass ceilings could you shatter as a result? 3. What environmental factors could affect you or your business? Predictions are that temperatures will be warmer in the northern hemisphere. This is good for Nigerians in the diaspora but bad for farmers because snow helps wet the ground for better yields When you prepare for multiple scenarios you can spot opportunities and threats. Can the war in the middle east lead to world war 3? We usually assume that everything will be normal and same. Environmental factors, governments, technologies, economy, social factors(you don't know what may trigger a riots or protest that can determine if you open your shop or not, if you can even commute to work or biz) A war is a threat, however it also comes with an opportunity for those that produce weapons. Also food must be produced for the soldiers. If you can see the opportunity first, you can prepare for it Secondly you can assess your strength and weaknesses. You determine upfront what you can get involved in or not. You identify your strength where you have less competition and higher profit, lower entry Capital. Scenario planning is playing up possibilities. Default mode is that things will continue the way they are but when the changes happen, you can quickly take up a position and revive equipment that were already put in place and deploy them quickly. SP help us identify new biz opportunities. SP fuels creativity and innovation. SP will help you differentiate from other businesses around because you're ready before them. SP helps you to be proactive instead of reactive. SP helps us make contingency plans in case of an unfavorable change. Shell practically invented SP and have survived a lot of ups and downs. Moderna. We are certain this world won't be free from problems yet. When you're used to sp, it becomes a way of thinking. You are planning for different scenarios. When you spot opportunities ahead of others, you have strategic foresight. 2024- my imagination will be active, I will be able to spot opportunities ahead of their time and take advantage of it when they show up.
