I remember that Brad Pitt and Anthony Hopkins got a majority of the praise for this film and it’s deserved but Aidan Quinn’s performance is cruelly unsung. His Alfred broke my heart as the unloved brother and the unloved husband and especially the unloved son.

Remember back when "epic" actually meant something? Not used to describe a freakin' sandwich, or someone's beard. Back when actors really had to perform. I am thankful I value myself enough and that I’m not a Susannah.

@cherylhulting1301 Жыл бұрын
@@lukaduka1001 It's interesting how much misogyny people let loose with in discussing this movie. Is woman hate part of libertarianism too? Susannah was honest with Tristan about her fears that she might have wanted both of their partners to die so that they could be together. It's a horrible but honest moment. Tristan is kind to her in that moment but it's clear to her that he no longer has any feelings for her. It's a tragedy that the bright woman with so many ideas that excited Samuel is brought down by misguided love for another man. Practice some empathy yourself and try to imagine what that might feel like, those feelings of deep guilt and unrequited love.
