Great ride along. Only a person from the desert South West can enjoy the clear water, green landscape and summer flowers. Great shots with the drone. It is worth every penny you spent on it.

There is also a Bridal Veil Falls in Utah. There was a sky tram that took people up to the top of the steep mountain but the base was destroyed by an avalanche and never was rebuilt. The base had been damaged many times before but the last avalanche was the worst one. Quite an extensive history. It is located close to Provo, Utah.

I always enjoy watching in the evening and always pull up on google maps where were going. Will try to hit some in the future. Getting the RV this year went down the tubes so I ride with you. Love just seeing the drive , some drone shots for a great air shot and some great stops along the way. Have really loved the drive this whole time. Really liked that drive along the Colorado rive , 128 I think it was ...This has been a great trip. Thanks so much for sharing with us....

I worked for the water dept. of Spearfish when I was in college. The section of creek a way below Bridal vail was part of the City of Spearfish water supply. One of our jobs was to remove trash from the creek. The highway and the creek are so close together that p tourist would throw trash out there windows and it ended up in the water. Cleaning creek was the most prized job for the dept. All that beautiful scenery and cool temps standing in the water. A little known fact about the creek, it run due north and moves so swiftly that it freezes from the bottom up. During winter cleanings we had to break up ice damns so the collection pool had enough water to run into the water system.

You mentioned gold panning a few times. I have some friends that have done that in the Black Hills. They are school teachers, so they have summers off. Back in the 1980's, these 2 guys would head to the hills and pan for gold. I believe that their best summer netted them about $20k. They had to get a mining permit and they would go where the old mines were and sift through the tailings. After a few years, they told me that all of the easy gold has been found in the hills. I suppose there are still some getting a little bit, but it's not very profitable now.

When out in the sunshine I can't see the phone screen nor can I see the digital screen view-finder on my camera. I have to use the old-school part of my camera...put an eyeball up to the little square view-finder. Could use some advice from you or anyone.

I spent four nights at Spearfish City Campground. I only had a motor home so I rented a car just a few minutes walk from the campground and did all of my touring. I stopped at every pull-off on the Spearfish Canyon scenic drive and stopped and just listened to the water running down the creek. This was the week before the eclipse in 2017. Seriously one of the best drives in the Blackhills.

Russ, two things I really appreciate about your videos: when you are traveling - you’re up early filming and you capture a lot of early morning sunshine - much appreciated especially when I watch your videos before I start my work day. And secondly, you really do a great job of talking to the viewers in such a way as to make us feel like we’re on the journey with you - it’s a rare quality that very few KZbinrs do well. Finally, it’s that you emphasize the journey as much or more than the destination. Thanks for sharing your travels!
