British had to bring those Indians as a lot of Sri Lankans didn't like to work under British. 🙂 Anyway, things have changed a lot by now. This video is so beautiful.. Connecting with locals is really cool. We in Sri Lanka have a saying that 'A beautiful woman wearing valuable ornaments could walk alone from point Pedro (northern most tip of Sri Lanka) to point Dondra (southern most tip of Sri Lanka) safe without getting any harassment from anyone in the past'. Comparatively Sri Lanka is safer for solo female travellers. Needs improvement. I as a Sri Lankan would like to see our country & other countries to be safe and nicer places for solo travellers.

Traveling alone in Indonesia is safe because the locals are really nice. When I was in Colombo walking at night, some of the locals showed concern by telling me to get on the sidewalk so that I wouldn't get run over by a tuktuk. Almost everyone I've met there was really nice. Can't wait to go back.
