@@Favour135 Did you miss the part where it's explained that Reiner actually sucked during his training, was the worst candidate, but was picked to be the Armored Titan because one of his friends recommended him over his brother whom he wanted to protect? On top of that, Eren is also a child soldier (he started a little later but was still around 12, I believe?) with a few years of probably even harder training than the Warriors. The Recruits had hand to hand combat training plus they had to have the strenght to use the ODM gear (which requires immense core strenght).
@adreak98683 жыл бұрын
@@Favour135 Annie was a far better combatant than Reiner, she would easily throw him around during training. Every move Eren makes in this fight he learned from Annie, he even states: "Your (the Warriors') biggest mistake was teaching me how to fight". You also need to remember that Reiner wasn't in the best shape, mentally speaking. That probably also influenced the outcome of the fight as he probably just wanted to end it as fast as possible and kept on making mistakes like constantly trying to tackle Eren.

@Juggtacula3 жыл бұрын
As Jacob Mattingly pointed out, Shifter Titans are essentially their human upper body surrounded by flesh, located in the nape of the Titan body's neck. The rest of them is just super dense muscle and bone. And Armored Titan's special ability is that it's covered in super hard, metallic armor. He even has an Optimus Prime style mouth plate that can cover his face for added defense. So Eren was putting more focus on the armbar so he could shatter that armor as we saw and get to the juicy meat underneath. Love you guys videos all the time and keep up the good work.

Even regular anime inconsistencies are avoided, all character are physically proportional, they have eyes and hair of possible colours (unlike shows with purple eyed and blue haired characters), characters without titan abilities don't get plot armour and get saved by stupid bullshit and every hit feels like it has the impact on the receiver that it should

a cool detail that this video made me realize is how Eren avoided chokes most of the time and went for joint locks, which as the video points out is typically sub optimal but as AoT lore states Titans are basically perpetual motion machines that don't need stuff like food or air so chokes in this case are the sub optimal option while locks are the optimal option due to Titans having relatively fragile bodies (though the story kinda forgets that half the time)

I was so hyped for this reaction, and it delivered. I just wanted to make a suggestion about Eren's triangle choke. I trust Chad's expertise that the triangle choke should primarily prioritize the choke over the joint break to end the fight, but perhaps another way to think of this fight was that maybe Eren didn't think that choking out the Armored Titan was possible. Given his reinforced body and a very stubby neck that's at least partially covered by plates, there may just have been no comfortable leverage at that angle. So, Eren's goal the whole fight was to weaken the Armored Titan, hence intentionally threatening to crack the right arm's plating via triangle, then transitioning to armbar to break it. This continues to when Eren goes into the guillotine and cracks the plating on the Armored Titan's back, opening up vulnerabilities for other humans to attack, though at that point it seemed like Eren was also going to break his neck. It's unclear how different a Titan's anatomy may be, so we actually don't know if choking out a Titan is possible. They definitely breathe given the steam they breathe out sometimes and their ability to produce sound, but do they even have a carotid? No need for blood to go to the brain if the brain is a tiny person on the back of a Titan's neck, right?. Eren got the closest to demonstrating a choke-out, but he just gets too angry and feral so we'll never quite know lol. Just food for thought. P.S. I imagine sometime down the line a The Raid reaction will happen? :))
@laurenceprice95093 жыл бұрын
Solid breakdown do the anatomy. This is part of the reason fighter like Yoel Romero would be harder to chock. The position of the head to neck leaves little room for comfortable leverage like you’ve said but anatomy like shoulders built or placed close tot he head make even securing the choke difficult
@jharris31102 жыл бұрын
On the topic of Titans having brains, it's shown in a layer season that Shifters have brains in Titan form, though I assume regular Titans may or may not. I think so tho, since the first thought that came to my mind was Ymir and how she became a shifter before the start of the series
@ianis56313 жыл бұрын
Eren never had any formal training, but trained by experiencing the moves himself( which sound cool but just means he was punched, kicked, thrown and submitted himself... a lot) so the fact that he nearly killed the armoured, who is a litteral walking tank, all the more impressive. Eren doesn't get as much credit as he deserves

One of the reasons the fight is relatively accurate for anime is because the creator is a big fan of martial arts. Even the titans are based on fighters with Eren’s titan being based on of Yushin Okami, a UFC fighter and the Armored Titan is based off of Brock Lesner, a WWE wrestler
@theswig23396 ай бұрын
After I stared Brazilian jiu-jitsu, I was watching Eren vs Reiner round 1 because I’m a fan , but then I caught onto Eren’s fighting style and recall that the creator based off some of the Titans on real life martial artists. I’ve been using some of Eren’s jujutsu moves like his kata gatame/Osoto Gari takedown (mainly when me and my opponent are on the floor because it’s easier for me until I can do it standing up) And it’s so fun to use. Eren vs Reiner was my favorite fight initially because it was very hyped and that was one of Eren’s closest victories had Bertholt not intervened. Now I enjoyed it even more because of how the practical the fight was with the use of BJJ.😊

It makes sense he didn't go for the choke since you can't choke out a titan. He wanted to disable the armored titan to be able to eat him or something

I think the Titan equivalent would be breaking the spine right near the nape, so it seems like it would work honestly
@wehatealf65433 жыл бұрын
Yes but shifter are covered by the nape off the Titan how does oxygen come in if Titans don’t breath? Where is the oxygen coming from and if the choke is done right he could crush his nape while choking him no hate just a question

I appreciate your commentary and breakdown of each move as well as potential alternatives that could have ended the fight sooner. I would be curious whether or not you believe each character's accumulated fighting/training experiences and mental state would honestly produce the fight you just broke down. Given the amount of missed opportunities to end the fight, we can establish that they aren't as good as they could have been or they were under a lot of stress which led to improper decision-making. And with your A rating, I assume your gut instinct is that the writers did a great job at honestly portraying both character's fighting skills. Without being trained in combat I at least understood that Eren was picking up Techniques from Annie who had been trained extensively in hand-to-hand combat as we figured out later on which helped explain the major improvements we saw in Eren. Overall great video I would want a more in depth Analysis of the combat styles used in the time period the show took place in comparing and contrasting real life vs the show, like for instance were these fighting techniques actually used back in the show's estimated time period or did they use fighting moves from present day in an old period where they didn't belong.
@marcellareisdesouza38933 жыл бұрын
first of all, your analysis is fantastic, I do jiujitsu and I also think that leg lock could be the best option but I also design and add another movement will make the scene longer and it is more work in that case eren let go of the armored titan was the best option
@josephhernandez17323 жыл бұрын
This just gives me a deeper appreciation for the show. It shows the writers knowledge of how a fight work and shows Erens lack of experience. Very well done.
