In this video we welcome the Schaefer V33 to a Sydney summers day and we test what she's capable of in wind chop, ocean swell and some gorgeous locations around the city.

Your videos are great because you give unbiased explanations and useful comments. Other reviewers just open a hatch here and there and show it. Would you recommend the Merc 250s for just a couple using the boat or moving up to 300's? Thanks!

I'm happy to hear that Terry! It's easier for me as i don't get paid for the videos so i'm free to talk as i wish. Happy to hear you guys are finding it useful. Yep 250's are fine for this boat. Also 300 Merc's are extremely hard to get at the moment so you'll struggle with supply wait times, so if you can get your hands on a pair of 250's you'll be happy with the performance and likely go boating sooner.

I subscribe to a few boat test channels but I especially like your test drives on both inshore water and rougher conditions, and your detailed explanation of what you are doing with the controls. I would second the motion of some idea of the price of these boats too. Doesn't have to be exact. Overall bloody nice work!

Thanks David! Yes i think i need to start including the pricing as a few people are asking about this so cheers for that feedback it's useful. I was just worried about being confusing as i speak in Aussie Dollars but maybe i can put it in US dollar's as Aussies will still be able to work that out. Again, thanks for the feedback!

Which do you prefer, this or the saxdor 320 gto in terms of performance and fit and finish?

Hi John, firstly i wouldn't actually compare the Saxdor and the Schaefer together. I would probably compare it with other Med style day boats like Fjord, Pardo, Wally etc. If you don't want a bigger day boat like the others then you should consider the Schaefer in my opinion. The Saxdor is definitely the better performing boat but in my test i had twin 300hp compared to the twin 250hp on the Schaefer so it's not exactly a fair comparison. In terms of fit and finish it's hard to tell on brand new boats as you generally start to notice issues after the 6-12 month mark. Some of the cupboard (non structural) doors and hatches on the Schaefer appeared to be built a bit lighter and the anchor deployment system needs a way to secure it down in the anchor well when it's been retracted (an easy fix) but overall I'd say both Saxdor and Schaefer fit and finish are about the same. Only because i have known the designer of Saxdor since 2014 when he was with Axopar i know the direction Saxdor will go, which is better and better each year. I don't know the guys at Schaefer yet so I'm unsure of their culture and drive for improvement? This will take me a little more time to learn I'm afraid. Thanks for watching!!
