I read a theory that this whole movie and show are all an elaborate in-universe series, a scheme by Hal to discredit Megamind. I love that theory, and it even makes sense, since Hal doesn't know anything about Megamind's backstory, so of course he'll invent a bunch of other villains that he never had history with. Now that I think about it, that's also a good reason why Megamind and Roxanne's romance is all-but killed off.

I only like the first one because the core of it was revolved around Gru and his love for the three girls he adopted and accidentally ended up caring about far more than his legacy. The second one is... _fine_ on principle, I guess. I kinda think Gru would have been just fine without a love interest and the girls are out of focus when I felt like it was about Gru _and_ the girls, but ah well. The third one I can't ever sit through because it bores me to tears so I don't know, but personally whenever I watched the movie I kind of remembered the scenes where Gru really showed how much he actually loved his kids than I do anything else.
