I don't know whether you will get to read this James but you just made my day. I have been coming from across the other side of the harbour to you. I am just starting to appreciate music like you have just learnt to appreciate the trumpet itself. I have finally received my 'Scgagerl' tenor saxophone, a prototype of course. It has been a long journey, over 45 years and 48 years since I lost the voice that won me a place in St Mary's Cathedral Choir, Sydney, 1961-1963, and found my voice again t/s

Fabulous! Thank you for posting this. What a great looking, and sounding, horn!

The reason that it is that shape is because the large portion is full of water, which reduces any energy in the form of vibrations from being 'wasted'.

Having appreciated a voice which I have not really heard another that I would have liked as a young boy, that is,it was a tall order to fill, but the tenor sax does that.I saw your Schagerl for the first time today playing mission impossible,I did not know what it was but knew immediately that you sounded like you never had before and wanted to show my trumpet playing brother, Scott.I put it down to your extra heavy mouthpiece. My tenor sax mouthpiece weighs in at 203gmTroyRoberts Link around 90gm

Having really appreciated Troy's sound, even more than his technique which I like more than Michael Brecker's (I respect Brecker's technique more than his sound), I looked up Troy Roberts in 2011 on a rod rubber mouthpiece, and not in the same league, so he really improved just like you by upgrading his tools, in this case no doubt to a vintage Otto Link Supertone. I had six of them until I fell in love with the only design I like now, vintage J&D Hite but in spun cast solid sterling silver

For what it is worth, from a tenor sax player, please stick to the Schgearl especially its very heavy mouthpiece and ask Schagearl if they will replicate that mouthpiece for you in spun cast sterling silver, unplated of course and a second in vacuum spun cast titanium, those are the two materials for the future on all instruments with titanium coming out on top in the end, you won't believe how much better again you will sound until you do it. Lathe a bell from rod and it won't ring, get m/pc cast
