One of the best I've had William. Interestingly, this one has the ungeared cross-slide screw with normal plain 102 index dial rather than the more usual large dial. It is a factory fitting and even has a drawing in the manual. IMO this is a much better arrangement as there's no gear to introduce backlash.

bollocks, can't get used lathes like these in Australia. so unfair!

Nice product, but the gear sound is horrible.

Very nice, however for a hobby lathe it makes a lot of noise.

It sounds louder in the video than it is in real life, but yes, they're not a particularly quiet machine like a Hardinge for instance. Much depends on the drive type. This machine has a Reeves type variator which is slightly different in design to the Hardinge type and somewhat noisier. If you take a look at my video on replacing and adjusting the bearings on a plain 102 you can see how much quieter the standard flat belt drive is.
