You're literally scheduling goals. I need to get better at planning out my day, but I'm such a slave to my emotions so when I don't feel like doing something, I tend to not do it. :( So bad. It's definitely something I struggle with.

Perhaps schedule some time to meditate and train your conscious awareness to process emotions more efficiently. It's like gym training for your emotion regulation. Any kind of mindfulness awareness should do the trick. 😊

I use toes it very rigid and limiting, but then I realized the chaos of my schedule was the most limiting thing ever. Once I embraced a bit more structure, I found I felt more free - I could think straight, things weren't getting forgotten, the important stuff was getting done, and I have more energy and focus for the creative things in my life and biz.

Mini summary for my future self (who will probably come back for this video) Rachel said 20 tips but i must have missed 2.... 1. List what you are doing every hour for a week - this allows you to figure out what you are wasting time on 2. Write a list of things you want to accomplish this month 3. Create a routine 4. Plan your day before so you know what to do when you wake up 5. Schedule your time in blocks 6. Allow for interruptions, things come up 7. Put your annoying tasks first 8. If possible, make block time for meetings 9. And also make block time for emails - recommend the night 10. Block time for exercise 11. Make time for your to-do list bc there may be things you didn't know you wrote down 12. Set an alarm every hour so that you get constantly reminded 13. If you plan to stop, then stop 14. Review your day every day 15. Find a planning list / method that works for you (eg the 4-grid method) 16. If you can do a task within 2 minutes, then do it now. 17. Turn off your phone or put it on airplane mode 18. Don't self doubt - have faith in yourself that you can still make a schedule and stick to it. You can have tome for your activities.

What are your thoughts on gratitude journals? I do a reflection at the end of day (especially the hectic/busy ones) where I use some quiet time to journal, list or write about the positive things that happen in the day, even when I feel like everything sucks. I've started using the grid diary app and it's been amazing. I think metacognition of our daily behaviour is so effective in improving our self-efficacy and keeping even the crazy days in perspective. Would love to know your thoughts?

Thanks so much, Rachel. This is awesome! I love the balance you invite people to find with what works for them, love the combo of block scheduling with to do lists (and allocating block time each day to do this) and the day planner/iCal combo is right up my alley too. This has been so helpful. I'm so inspired! I really appreciate your taking the time and energy to do this. Big hugs from the west coast. 😊💕

I know this is an old video but I just felt like binging your vids. I’ve actually been subscribed to you for 2 years now. I’ve been super unmotivated these days since this COVID19 ordeal has been going on. I just stay in bed all day and watch KZbin videos AAAALLLLL DAY. Fitness is my passion & I am a personal trainer, but now, I hardly workout even though I have the equipment I need. So this has really helped me! I am going to get off of my ass and schedule my days and try not to stay in bed until noon🤦🏽‍♀️. Thanks so much Rachel 💖

Last year I used the Passion Planner which is broken down into half hour slots and I loved how organised it would keep me when I used it. I wouldn't always get everything done but I usually got 80 or 90% of the tasks completed. This year I'm using another planner I bought at the same time as the Passion Planner and it's just split into morning, afternoon and evening which I find much harder to work with. I like the structure of the set times because I could block in things I had to do first and then work round that but with empty space even though you can add times it's not always easy to figure out the order of tasks. Definitely going back to the Passion Planner next year. The time I'm worst at planning is when I'm switching shift patterns (nights to days or days to nights) because I just can't plan for how tired I'll be during those times so I usually stick to the basic necessary tasks for a couple of days around shift swap time.
