I watched the whole series and I ended up hating him because of how he treated the princess to the end. Even after he recovered his memory and realized why she hurt, he had no compassion for her. It had a tragic ending, and I feel it was all his fault. The acting for the most part was great all around. But I cannot rewatch the whole series because most scene on his cruelty made me so mad. So now I just watch some scenes that were sweet between them and skip through all the scenes that stresses me out.

Wrong. The girl is in love with the prince but he is not on the same level. When both fell in the water, old feelings (deeply in love) that have been forgotten, came up for the crown princess. So on instinct he remembered that the crown princess could not swim so he went for her.
