It is not harder to open because there is no inner interlock. There is a thing that senses if the door is closed and looks a lot like the ones that they use on gated elevators from the 30s. And the way it stays shut is from the door operator. And just to show how low quality that thing is, it was out of service when Andrew took us there. ;)

I think a lot of people watch these videos because we are scared of elevators, not impressed by them. This one would really scare me, the ones that have one door that closes all the way instead of two doors that open in the middle are not my preference, because I figure they would be harder to open in an emergency. But since you film them, I can ride in the safety of my living room, thanks! :)
