You cannot, in hindsight, imagine how radical and impactful this movie was. I had never before, and have never since, experienced an entire cinema audience a) watch the credits through while John Williams’s haunting music soared out and then b) leave the auditorium in utter silence. The best movie I have ever seen. The most evocative and fitting music to accompany it. Such a beautiful gift to the world in response to one of its most awful moments. Genius, Mr Spielberg, genius.

I agree saving Private Ryan was simlar experience leaving the theater but in my humble opinion both films show the atrocities of what happened during the second wold war and everyone persons in the future generations should learn and remember because if they dont as they say history will repeat itself. Prayer for all those that died during that horrible period for humankind. Cheerish life is the side I'll be on full stop. Amen and bless those that gave up their freedoms so we have ours today.

I had a similar experience leaving the showing of All Quiet on the Western Front last weekend. Utter silence. It's very sad that it's such a limited release. It's an incredible reminder of the horrors humans can release on fellow men and women.

I saw this remarkable work of art on the big screen I believe 4 or 5 times in 1993-94 when I was a starving student at Buff State College. It is a remarkable achievement and the supreme masterpiece in Spielberg’s legacy, one one of the greatest films ever made- hauntingly dazzling and unforgettable in every way.

There’s a difference bw anti zionist and anti semitic u do know that? Israel commits brutal crimes on Palestinians, hundreds of innocent Palestinians are killed every day, every week. Their properties are taken. Why should such a “state” be supported? Again, not all jews are w israel, most of them are but yes not all. We respect and empathise the jewish deaths in ww2, but do not link this all to israel.

I advice you to show them what has been happening to palestinian people since 1948. They will like hitler again 😊 Imagine.... This is exactly what is happening to the Palestinians since 1948. They practiced the same torture and insults that they suffered from in the past on a defenseless and weak people.
@nissetorvang1709

@@Ahmed-in2sh You need to understand that what the Nazis was doing during WWII was something bad that should never have happened, and what the Israelis have been doing to the Palestinians since 1948 is also something bad that should not have happened... Frankly, if you can't understand that, then you are not part of the solution, you are a part of the problem. Growing up my neighbor was a Jewish woman, she had come to Sweden as a refugee and survivor from a concentration camp... Even she, who had first handed seen the horrors of the Nazis thought that what the Israelis were doing to the Palestinians was wrong! And if you want to keep complaining about how countries are mistreating Muslims, then talk about what Turkey is doing to the Kurds, or what Saudi Arabia is doing in Yemen... Just because they are "the wrong kind of Muslims"?!

Yes, I couldn't agree more since the killing on the 8th October .Israel's leader Benjamin Netanyahu response has been disproportionate ,to say the least . 20 thousand Palestinians have been bombed & killed. Why are world leaders doing nothing .Nobody seems to criticise..same in the Yemen . Its a mystery to me .

@@richardevans3253 yes, we all hear about the October 7 attack... But nothing about October 6 when Israeli settlers attacked a village on the West Bank, killing a 19 year old boy and wounding over 50 people... It's the 75 years of things like these that have made Hamas and Hezbollah grow stronger and stronger over the years! And America even passed a law that makes criticising Israel and something like the October 6 attack antisemitism and therefore illegal and a hate crime?!

Schindler List I feel objectively is the greatest film ever made, and even by a reasonable margin. Every scene is so efficient and mostly riveting. The story telling is done so efficiently that every shot communicates sentences were it a book. Every scene is escalating tension and new chapter in the overall story progression, yet each scene is like a mini movie with a beginning, escalation, and climatic ending. The scene where the head nazi visits schilndlers factory and times a worker to see if he is good enough at making hinges to live as an example. So this worker is barely keeping it together, trying to keep his hand steady and make a perfect hinge as fast as possible. He focuses in a riiveting minute of screen time and pulls it off. We sigh relief until the scene has its first reveal/twist. The nazi pours out his bucket where he puts finished hinges revealing only a few dozen were made today. So the worker, by pulling off the feat he thought would save his life... has doomed himself as the nazi asks if you can make a hinge so fast and well, why such a small pile of hinges since your shift started this morning. There is original setups and payoffs, with escalating stakes, in almost every scene of the whole movie. And it's not a matter of rinse and repeat. It's a totally new angle of the war each time. And yet they all tell the overarching story at the same time. The scenes are perfect mini movies. And all combine to tell a perfect macro movie. A movie about ultimate morality and good vs evil. It's a sermon. Schindler begins as a selfish greedy womanizer. And scene by scene he gradually, believably becomes a savior. Whether you believe in holocaust or believe the conspiracy theories is totally irrelevant. I'm talking strictly about the pure genius of the storytelling Spielberg achieved. And it's almost entirely visual. There's a shot of the execution cars driving over a road made of tombstones. A single shot that has a whole mini movie story in the single shot, if you are watching attentively. It's the most efficient visual storytelling I have ever seen. No scene ever repeats the formula of any other scene. They are all original little movies all woven into the macro. The villain is among the greatest in cinema history, and the cat and mouse mind games Schindler must use to hide his empathy and befriend the bad guy to do what his growing conscience demands of Schindler is absolutely mesmerizing. Everything is on the line in every scene and it's original despite each scene essentially just being about pure survival in extreme evil. You have one of the greatest heroes in the history of cinema in Schindler. It's one of the greatest and most complex character arcs I've ever seen. The ending is as spiritually enlightening as movies get. Schindler, having saved so many, realizing finally at the end what he should of known from the opening scene. That his fancy watch he kept was another few lives and because he kept it.... and a few innocents died because of the last pieces of his greed and selfishness that finally fall off of him in the final scenes. He gains world, almost loses his soul, becomes a true hero, the realest kind of hero that can ever exist in the real world, a tactician negotiator who has to pull off deceiving his friends, who are actually secretly now his enemies, to save the victims he himself only cared to enslave and use. He gains the world, realizes what the cost of what he is becoming and how far into evil these things can go, and then he loses it all to find empathy and his soul. At the end of the movie he's lost everything and having his soul, he bawls his own eyes out realizing in horror he could of and SH0ULD of done more. He's wearing corpses on his Body in his nice clothes. His car. They all could of been sold and saved more lives. It's so powerful because in his crowning moment of triumph, the scene that would be the glory of victory in a lesser movie... is instead the scene where he suddenly realizes he was, and to some degree still is, a monster. And we love him 100 times more for it. And he is now truly a good man. There is a truly perfect film. And it is Schindler list. It's Spielberg in his prime with zailion writing, who is arguably the best screenwriter at that time. There is no movie in this world I am aware of that reaches this level of storytelling mastery for 3 hours straight. Not a single weak scene. And countless riveting scenes of genius design without a single wasted moment. It's the highest level of craft out there. It's the highest level of emotion movies can reach. It's a sermon on ethics and the highest principles of God. It's a depiction of the ultimate levels of evil and goodness. It's arguably the greatest character arc in cinema history. It has no false steps whatsoever anywhere. Even the very beginning, watch how the nobody Schindler masterfully plays multiple sides off each other to be a middle man who uses other people's money and skill, and adds his empty flattery, and cleverly creates a corporation and becomes rich doing no work and with no money. Just by being a crafty charming guy with a plan. The rest of the movie we realize this is the only kind of man who could of pulled off what he did. A social master who could use this talent to make himself rich, or save lives from evil and be a saint. And to watch him trade all the riches in the world to risk his life to save so many, and to pull it off with stakes that high... so often he is playing people off each other to barely survive. And the moment the head nazi figures out Schindler actually had a heart he's a dead man, and he knows this. He has to be the devils best friend to save everyone from the devil and he's clever enough to play that tightrope walking game. So many close calls. The music is among cinemas best too. The main theme is haunting and we all know it. The more times I see this movie the more impressed I am and the more sure I feel nothing compares to Schindlers list. I dont think another movie exists that really can challenge it for top spot. Shawshank is a great film. But frankly, it doesn't equal Schindlers list in any category. Godfather 1 and 2 are awesome, but they don't have everything. They won't touch your soul like schindlers list does. And they aren't as riveting or efficient nor as good at tension and ingenuity in scene construction. So many great movies exist. But revisit schindlers list and watch it with total focus, every scene, every shot. It deserves that focused a viewing because every shot tells so much story. So much story happens minute by minute because there's never any waste. Ever. So you are always being given so many details and implied story beats communicated on the screen. A perfect movie should be an impossible thing that doesn't exist. But schindlers list is literally a perfect film with zero flaws, zero weaknesses, it's as great as cinema gets in every category you can list, in every way. It's the best technical movie ever It's probably the best emotional movie ever It's probably the greatest sermon that exists in the entire world on ethics and goodness. I'd go so far as to say it is the greatest artistic achievement... ever. Bold statements I know. Watch it again and focus on just how well thought out every second of this movie is. Shot by shot by shot... Citizen Kane, as great as it is, is simply not on this level. Nothing else is. So if you can forget entirely about ant conspiracy stuff... don't watch it insisting this is real historical record. Doesn't matter. Just watch it like its fiction so that bias never colors your viewing If you see it pure and direct... I feel it not only has no equal ever... and I've seen basically all classics and all the best movies out there as I was an amateur screenwriter myself for 20 years... Anyway, I can list countless masterpieces... but schindlers list belongs in its own category and I cannot think of anything that legitimately can challenge schilnders list to where I'd even think ok that's a close 2nd. I don't think a CLOSE 2nd place exists. Because schindlers list is truly that perfect, shot by shot, for 3 hours. It win best picture. It's hailed as one of the top 10 movies ever by virtually all movie critics. But I still feel it's genius is severely underappreciated, despite everyone agreeing it's a masterpiece by probably the greatest director ever. What can be called truly perfect? Schilnders list is the impossible achievement and it's all soul. It's so good it's like God made it.

One question why all the actors in Schindler list are similar to the real of them but Shindler is completly different then Oscar Schindler. They should take similar actor, not handso e Liam Neeson.

You are completely misinformed then, Schindler’s list isn’t a movie, it is a brief look into a passage of history, Spielberg prided himself in this movie on his meticulous attention to detail and consistencies with the real life events, the only discrepancies from the movie and real life events were that the movie was actually tuned down as the behaviour was so brutal in real life that it might of seemed unrealistic and inconceivable to viewers with no previous knowledge of the Holocaust. Schindler’s list is a realistic depiction of the events that occurred in the Holocaust focussing primarily on Oskar Schindler’s heroic and honourable acts. Give it the respect it deserves.
