That's why making this video was a big mistake. The title is making an assumption never brought up in the first place. Also, since when do schizophrenics (I'm one) join clubs and meet in groups? Much less form their own. I never met a schizo who wasn't a complete loner who hibernates in his or her bedroom. She doesn't have a flat affect either. In fact she's on the overexpressive side. She has a steady boyfriend as well? Seems pretty normal if you ask me. I couldn't find a date to save my life in college. Now I spend my twilight years doing, you guessed it...sitting in my room all day.

And anyways if people don't have perfect spelling it might not their fault, for example if people make spelling mistakes in English maybe their native language is not language or maybe it is difficult for everyone to spell one hundred perfectly one hundred percent of the time/all the time.

Honestly BLESS this woman. I personally do not have schizophrenia but I do experience frequent visual, auditory and sensory hallucinations as a result of ptsd and for the longest time I felt so ashamed of it and told no one. The few people I did say something too either refused to believe it by saying that it's probably nothing and I'm just blowing things out of proportion or were deeply disturbed and upset by it. I went on feeling like a broken, twisted person because I felt so alone in my experiences but seeing this woman and her efforts makes me feel so much better knowing there are other high functioning people out there who have similar experiences and are not ashamed of it. I hope one day I can also accept myself with my own symptoms

At my workplace, I met a few patients with schizophrenia and everytime I had to review documents with them, I would be scared to meet them because I just imagined them yelling at figments of their imagination and getting upset with me for no real reason. I was pleasantly relieved the last time I met a middle aged woman who had schizophrenia. She carried on a convo with me for a good amt of time. She was concerned about getting her hair washed and styled since she hadnt washed it in the month or so in the hospital. She was a sweet lady and a joy to be around.

I have schizophrenia and it's nice to know there are people in my corner. I have had voices since I was four, hallucinations since I was about seven. I really relate to feeling like I have to keep it a secret. I didn't tell my friends in high school after I had been diagnosed (just like her after a suicide attempt) and they all stopped being my friends because of my symptoms they saw. It's so hard at first.

I'd always wondered what it was like. Tim Curry's IT character traumatized me so badly that I'm still afraid of clowns to this day. I can understand how she feels. When I was younger, I needed meds for an illness that left me hallucinating a man in leather overalls, a black trench coat, a black hat, and a hook for a right hand standing outside my window in the rain. I screamed and ran for my life! I can't imagine seeing that everyday. I'd be terrified.

I do not have schizophrenia but from a brain injury I see things in the dark or low light. Dr said my brain is not processing and I hallucinate to make up for the damage. One night the new pennywise was righht over my bed. I screamed so loud!! I have seen my room on fire, spiders. Now in the light I am fine so I sleep now with a night light or my ipad on all night. So I can sympathize with her because these hallucinations are SCARY...

Her story is really inspiring and it touched me. Actually, most of people in my country aren't really aware of what schizophrenia actually is, so they get kind of scared and upset if they hear that a neighbour or someone they know has schizophrenia (especially at some really small villages, old people aren't well educated so if they find our that a neighbour has schizophrenia, they will automatically think that he/she is about to become a serial killer or something). So I am just trying to raise awareness about what this condition really is (as much as I can, even just from my friends). I've had insomnia for nearly 20 years and it really p's me off when people tell me "go to sleep" like I can snap my fingers and BOOM! magically fall asleep in 5 minutes. It can take a long time for me to fall asleep (sometimes several hours).

My boyfriend has schizophrenia. I have never thought of him as a monster at all even though he thinks he is. He’s the nicest person I have ever met and very understanding. When he first came out to me saying he had schizophrenia, he thought I was gonna leave him. That was not the case. I will not leave him just because he’s different. Don’t ever judge a book by its cover. Just because you have a mental illness it doesn’t make you crazy, it just makes you different. Everyone fights their own battles. Unique is great!

I've suffered with schizophrenia my whole life and was undiagnosed for 25 years. As a kid I was seen as just weird and had an active imagination but when I got older, I realized there was something else going on. I kept it a secret from everybody but I was scared my family would be afraid of me. So I was misdiagnosed with all kinds of different things so I wasn't properly medicated. Staying silent about it ruined almost my entire life. After my dad died, I was pushed over the edge and I completely spiraled, a voice convinced me to do something bad and ended up at a psychiatric center. I finally came out about everything and was properly diagnosed, put on the right meds and see a psychiatrist who specializes with schizoprenia. My family was 100% supportive and I can say I've never felt this happy and safe in my life. I strongly regret keeping it a secret growing up. The world labels us as dangerous and that scares us more than anyone. If anything, we're more dangerous to ourselves than anyone else. It needs to be talked about more and understood better. Don't believe how we are portrayed in movies and video games

What an amazing brave young woman! I think speaking about mental health issues is so important. For some reason there is a stigma attached to a mental health diagnosis. My daughter has OCD, Anxiety, ADHD, Dyslexia and has had mild depression at times. I have always described her mental health issues to people like this. Your brain is an organ, just like your lungs or heart. Some times there can be a chemical imbalance. That imbalance is where mental health issues come from. Some times people may need medications to help correct or manage that imbalance. Just like if you had asthma you would take an inhaler or even a daily medication to prevent an asthma attack. Or if you had high blood pressure, you might need a medication to help correct that issue.

This is so, so very important. There isn't enough conversation and true information about schitzophrenia. I too have have this condition and it's been very hard at times, been in and out of hospital and had several other diagnoses before it became clear I am schitzophrenic. Now I'm on a medication that suits me and I've been doing well for almost 4 years now. My hallucinations started as a pre-teen and first they were pretty harmless, even kinda fascinating at points. I would hear different kind of voices, static hum. I'd see colorful, otherwordly things. Then gradually the things I saw and heard became more frightening, voices started telling me what to do, how to act, "don't take your meds, it's poison" -sort of things. I'd heard screaming in my head. I became paranoid, thought I was watched constantly and I developed sort of and "alternative reality" that was fused with ours, I wrote many diaries full of stuff about this, how there are different beings that survaillance me and if I do something "wrong" against their laws, I get punished. It was like living in a nightmare. Worst thing was this being I called "lady in white". She was dressed in a white lacey wedding dress, had long claws and the most horrible face imaginable, I wish I could draw it. When the medicine started to work I was stunned by the silence, there were no voices, no screaming, no static hum or machines clacking. I actually played music almost non stop for 2-3 months because the silence felt so alien. And I kinda missed the nice voices that comforted me if I was sad. Nowdays I have some voices and other hallucinations, but they are not scary and I manage well with them. I wish courage and strenght to fellow "schizos" out there, don't give up! 💜

Great video! A dear dear childhood friend of mines brother had schizophrenia and he was such a sweet person,but he as so many do committed suicide at 32. Such a beautiful life wasted because back then there was not a lot of "help" back then. Doctors just add meds and add meds

Shes so beautiful. People who have these kinds of conditions are so misunderstood. I'm not victim to any condition if this type, but mine I believe have to do with my personality. The best thing you can do to help someone feel better in these situations is to try your best to be positive as opposed to negative. It can be hard for me sometimes to be positive myself because I know something is wrong with the way I go about interacting with people.

I was diagnosed at age 39 with it. I always thought that everyone felt like me. It was hard to come to terms with the reality of ~~ for all those years, my "imaginary followers and talkers" were not real. They lived in my head and now...thank god for meds. It's not scary...it's how people fear being around me that scares me. EDUCATE YOURSELVES. It's something we cannot control. My worst symptom?? I always think I'm going to be pushed down. I never allow anyone to walk behind me. and the constant whispering I hear....it's hell.
