my grandmother used to love this version, always told me jschlatt had the most wonderful voice and she wishes that she could have married him when they were both young back in the 30s she sadly passed away in 1999 after suffering several fatal stab wounds in some horrific mass stabbing incident but i still have fond memories of her come back whenever i listen to this version, thank you schlatt and co for releasing these old records digitally so i can remember her

I think one thing Schlatt has that is missing from a lot of covers like this is subtlety in his vocals. There's a certain smoothness to his voice while having his vibrato still be heard, He could've easily gone the route of every other male singer and done a crooner style, with deep vibrato- but honestly I think this stands out more, it breaks the mold and Schlatt's voice is uniquely built for these kind of songs, and I say this as someone who's been listening to and making music for about 10 years.
